It had to have been at least a minute or two since you’d moved. Your hand was pressed against the cool rock of the cave you’d stumbled into, greenery growing all up the walls and through the cracks. There was a faint glow, coming right from the pond-like pool of water at the edge of the cave. You’d never seen anything like it before.

Along with the most handsome man you’d ever seen.

He was almost fully submerged in the pool’s water, only his shoulders peeking out, and his hair was dark and damp, falling across his forehead into his equally as dark eyes. His ears pointed into tips and he was staring right back at you with a similar look of confusion.

You let out a long sigh, blinking up at the white ceiling. There’s no way to tell what time it is – but you can be pretty damn sure it’s late. The curtains are only half drawn and it allows you to take a look outside, eyes glazed over as they stare at the pitch black sky, only a few dots of light littering the void of space. The moon is mostly hidden, but you can spot a sliver of white amongst the sea of black and your eyes inevitably stick to it, fixating on the light as you yawn yet again.

Your mind, your eyes, your legs, your whole body, they feel heavy with sleep – you can barely hold onto the arm that’s slung over your stomach. Simply resting your hands on it, you focus on the warmth seeping through your pyjama shirt in an attempt to lull yourself to sleep – but no matter how long you lie there, you just can’t seem to sink into slumber.
