I was killing time with some of my work buddies today and they started talking about the Modern Warfare 4 trailer drop today and I mentioned how I was excited to see the story play out with Price and Ghost allegedly being on opposite sides and that I live for the sentimentality drama of Ghost wearing Soap’s scarf. RIP.
They kind of gave me a look like they were surprised I really knew what they were talking about and I just shrugged and said, “I just like seeing a story tie up loose ends.”
If I could have bottled the looks on their faces I would have. Watching four grown ass men relive the first betrayal of their childhoods was the kind of power trip I thrive off of.
The thing about Miss Piggy is that she kind of has a Roger Rabbit comedy superpower where she wins nearly any conceivable fight she's in. But unlike other characters of which that's true, like say, Bugs Bunny, who tend to win because they make the opponent play the game with their rules, Miss Piggy wins because the joke is that she can beat the shit out of literally anybody.
Working where I do gives me such whiplash sometimes. One week it’s scrambling all stressed and panicked trying to get a mountain of work done while leadership is tapping their feet glaring down saying we need to be more “agile.”
And then the next week I’m twiddling my thumbs spinning in my chair bored out of my mind doing nothing but writing Jason Todd fan fiction on my work computer trying not to think about if it’s an acceptable use of taxpayer dollars.
Daniele Di Nicuolo recently released a new drawing of Jason Todd, and it's spectacular. I really like the step back away from trying to make Jason both older and more rugged, when in canon he's like, not even mid 20's. I kinda wished they changed the outfit, but overall I think this design is fucken great and I can't wait to see more from both this new Teen Titans and Daniele Di Nicuolo and Kyle Higgins
I'm kind of obsessed with Hal being a D-list celebrity in Dol Makjar like that man cannot go anywhere without being clocked. Strangers at the club ask him to sing karaoke for them. The literal king of a foreign country knows who he is. Even the fucking mobsters he's fighting in the sewers are like "wait a minute, is that-"
Formula One being back after five weeks got me thinking about F1 Driver Jason Todd and there is tragically little content there, so I guess I have to write it myself. I’m honestly so tempted just to write a story I have too many F1 thoughts swimming around in my head.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - would totally drive for Red Bull and that's only me projecting a little bit. He'd absolutely have a more aggressive and pushy driving style that is a really great compliment to the Red Bull car’s overall design and program. Honestly he’s really similar to a young Max Verstappen where if you don't leave him room, he will make room. Even if it means a bit of contact.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd – has some bad blood between him and Mercedes since Bruce is one of the owners and that's who he was supposed to drive for after going through the ranks in F3 and then F2. But after a fallout with Bruce while in F3 he received an offer from Red Bull who saw talent there and wanted to pull him into F1 for the next season. He had the points to get his super license after winning the F3 championship and it gave him an out away from Bruce. He took the offer and left the Mercedes academy program despite having been supported by them thus far in his career. Mercedes fans view him as a traitor, and this dug the rivalry between the two teams even deeper.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - works hard but he's hard to work with. He’s developed a lot of coping mechanisms that his new team didn’t understand and has tried to mold him into something else that fits the existing team dynamic. Each time this happens he pushes back and challenges those dynamics. He's very insistent he can manage himself and has yet to sign a permanent career coordinator.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - is notoriously difficult on media day, barley working with content coordinators for brand deals and the video snippets that get posted to the team's social media accounts. He's not mean to them by any means; he just doesn't do what he's told. He'd rather focus on the race and not silly video challenges that just make him look and feel stupid. He knows it's in his contract and that's the only reason the little content of him gets made at all. In the last two years of driving with Red Bull, they've gotten minimal content with him, and he's gone through at least seven media coordinators who have either quit or been replaced by someone the team feels could handle him and get him to do the content. None have been very successful.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - regularly "forgets" to put on the brand deal watches whenever he's on the podium. He deals with the fines and shrugs it off when the brands complain about him not wearing the merchandise he's supposed to wear.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - often shows up on race day ridiculously early to avoid media and his picture being taken by reporters. He doesn't "dress up" and usually just walks in with a simple henley or a team shirt and jeans before disappearing into the team garage to prepare for the race.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - has his prerace ritual down to a science and it doesn’t take long for everyone on the team to know not to bother him during those moments leading to the race. His headphones are in, listening to playlists he's curated specifically to get him in the right mindset, and he's flipping through a new book each time. Those closest to him have recognized a pattern in the books, poetry for when he's feeling a little anxious, philosophy for when he knows he's got the race in the bag, and classic literature if he's going into the race pissed. It's almost a game for the garage team to place bets on what he's going to be reading each weekend.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - is the first one there and the last one out, often staying behind to help the engineering and mechanic teams clean the car and start on repairs before it gets shipped out for the next race. He takes great pride in being one of the only drivers to understand the cars on a mechanical level and helps maintain them. When he was a kid, he built his own karts, so he knows the ins and outs when it comes to fixing cars. It's a part of his winding down and decompression ritual after a race regardless of if he won or lost. He names each car in his head and doesn't tell anybody. That's between him and the machine.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - is a menace on the radio, often threatening to shut it off if he keeps getting messages distracting him with things he already knows. He hates pitting when he knows his tires can keep going and would rather stay out to overcut the competition by pushing the car to its limits. He regularly works with his race strategists personally to plan each race so they’re all on the same page for which tire compounds he starts with and when to box to maximize his chances of winning.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - HATES the electrical/combustion engine split and is very vocal during press conferences that the switch to "clean" energy is ruining the sport, and he hardly recognizes it from what it used to be when he was a kid watching races on karting weekends. He backs these opinions up with facts and statistics and it's something that makes him relatable to the fans who mostly see him as an angry driver. “If last year’s slowest time is faster than this year’s fastest time that’s not racing. That’s a disappointment.”
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - is the kind of driver you either love or hate. There is no in between. He's a polarizing person when all you get is the minimal content he tolerates being made and the aggressive way he drives on track. The people who love him defend him faithfully and the people who hate him are very, very, vocal about it. The reality is he's just a really private person who doesn't care what people think, they're going to have their opinions and it’s not his job to change those opinions.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd’s - biggest saving grace is he is always nice to kids. It's like a switch flips on and suddenly the rough edges soften and he’s more than happy to crouch down and listen to them talk about the race and how excited they are to see him win. He regularly gives his hats to kids, and one time had to be held back from jumping over the barriers by security when some scummy adult snatched the hat from a child. He ended up getting the guy banned from all future races and it is the single moment all fans can agree on was entirely called for.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - auctions off a lot of his helmets, saving only the most meaningful ones for his personal collection. Most of the proceeds go to underprivileged youth programs for kids who don't have the kind of funding others do but still want to race. That's where he started and he begrudgingly knows if he didn't have Bruce he probably never would have made it to F1 in the first place. So, he pays it back to the communities that remind him of where he came from. It’s the one thing he will talk about advertisement wise and will even voluntarily do brand deals to bring in more funding to support the program.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - is the kind of driver that never lets the money go to his head. He doesn't do the private yachts or the expensive designer clothes. All his money goes into savings, the foundations he's set up, and paying the many fines he receives throughout the season.
F1 Driver! Jason Todd - has never been seen with a girlfriend, or boyfriend some would speculate, and always shuts down questions about his private life. He prefers to keep the conversation on racing and regularly calls out reporters on stupid questions that waste his time. He's often considered the most eligible driver on the grid and hates it when people try to get close to him just to shoot their shot instead of trying to get to know him.
If F1 Driver! Jason Todd - does meet somebody he’s interested in, he’s a total flop at flirting. The man has no game. Absolutely zero flirty charisma. He’s spent his entire life working towards driving and only driving so when it comes to dating, he’s clueless. His idea of a great date is test driving rally cars and watching old race footage in the garage.
