BPD + ADHD culture is constantly forgetting the ways I've hurt, or have been hurt, so I'm trapped in a cycle of pain forevermore.

God. Fuck. Kill me. I need actually knee braces that will actually support me. I need my knees to stop hyperextending. I need support for the instability. I need something that will actually support my weight so I don't have to constantly offload it onto everything else around me. But I can't afford anything, I can't afford even the Walmart braces, let alone the good braces I know I need. Fuck being disabled. I hate my joint instability. I hate having a connective tissue disorder. I hate being broke as fuck. I need moneyyyy.
"you're so strong" "you're so resilient" "you're so brave" what if I don't want to be? what if I want to break down and cry? why do I have to be strong?
Just one day out sends me to bed for three days of recovery.
reminder: just because a disabled person has accommodations does not mean they will perform at the same level or have the same capabilities as a non-disabled person! accommodations are there to make life easier for the disabled person, but they donât erase the fact that we are disabled. as an employer, parent, peer, etc. you must be open to the possibility that a disabled person will be DISABLED by their condition. if you only see accommodations as an excuse to expect the same from a disabled person as you would from a non-disabled person, you are not the ally you think you are
Reminder at all, someone with a disability/chronic illness might be capable of completely different levels of activity from day to day. You canât hold yourself or others to the best version of the physical self every single day. That goes for able bodied people too! Energy levels fluctuate, and for people with a disability/chronic illness that difference will be even more extreme.
Be patient. Be gentle with yourself and others.
Just because the other day you did a workout, went grocery shopping, and/or washed your hair, it doesnât mean youâre less valuable today while youâre stuck in bed.
Be kind to yourself.
btw, shoutout to disabled people who donât do everything right.
to disabled people who knowingly do things that will make their condition (temporarily or permanently) worse.
to disabled people who arenât the âperfectâ disabled person that does everything possible.
to disabled people who refuse to push themselves too hard or try to live up to able-bodied standards, and to disabled people who (knowingly or not) push themselves too hard and suffer because of it.
able-bodied people seem to struggle with the idea that disabled people can do whatever they want with their bodies. they seem to think disabled people should be doing whatâs best for them 24/7, and should never do âbad/wrongâ things.
disabled people deserve respect and autonomy, always.
it should be like prohibited for a chronically ill person to get a normal illness because wdym i have to go through a fucking cold when im already having to deal with all these symptoms everyday
Me and my disabled friends always say "people say im strong but i don't WANT to be strong." If you feel this way right now i wish for you to reach a point in your life that easy and smooth, where you can have proper rest, peace, and happiness, whatever that may look like. I'm sorry you have to fight tooth and nail everyday right now, and i hope it ends soon.
