forgive me, intestine, for I have sinned. i ate vegetables today. but you already knew that.
Idk what person with chronic illness needs to hear this, but you can do things to make your responsibilities nicer for yourself. You can get an ice cream after a blood draw. You can sit down for tv time after an injection. You can pick out the bandaids that have cartoon characters on them instead of the plain ones. Being an adult doesn’t stop you from benefiting from encouragement. Go for whatever fits with your routine/abilities/budget and makes life a little better. A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down etc etc

disabled clown: oh boy I made it home! As a treat I’ll put on my compression socks and my compression belt and my compression shirt and my compression handkerchief and my compression handkerchief and my compression handkerchief and my compression handkerchief and my
Trying to prove a point to someone who doesn’t understand why going to a new doctor would be anxiety inducing because “they’ve literally made a whole career out of wanting to help people, how could they do any wrong.” And “Why would you be scared of someone that spent years and years, went hundreds of thousands in debt, just to be able to help people?”
Fucking hell could you please like or reblog if you’ve ever been gaslit or fake-claimed or in any way mistreated or not taken seriously by any healthcare professional. Any details in the tags is appreciated too. I just need more people to understand that getting clinical help is often infinitely harder than it sounds.
I was in the ER and had a nurse turn off the alarm on the blood pressure monitor because it “kept going off.”
The reason it kept going off was because my blood pressure kept dropping. I fainted twice. She didn’t notice either time because she wasn’t looking at me. She came in, turned off the beeping, and left again.
It wasn’t even an extra busy night in the ER. She just didn’t give a shit.
POTS is so fucking ridiculous like ah fuck shit sorry it’s a little too warm in here so i’m about to look like i’m having a category five medical emergency. but really i’m all good. also to prevent it i just have to lower the temperature but not too much and also make a quick stop by the X-axis for like five minutes. i’m like a tempermental plant if it was cunty. do you guys hate me
Too much movement makes your joints hurt and too little movement also makes your joints hurt. This would imply that there's an optimal amount of movement that allows your joints to not hurt. This is a lie.
Brain fog is not an adequate descriptor, actually. Fog can be kinda nice and beautiful and ethereal and refreshing. The thing we’re describing is more like a brain BOG; everything moves slow like you’re wading through water, it’s clunky and heavy and you keep getting stuck in the mud. It’s uncomfortable and inconvenient and everything takes so much effort. You lost a shoe, probably.
“Why are you doing xyz if it makes (insert symptom) worse?”
Hey so I’m sick, not dead. Hope that helps!
I’m so proud of people living with chronic health conditions. That shit is HARD. Idk who needs to hear this, but if no one else has said it: I’m proud of you. You’re sticking it out through so much pain and grief. That’s no small feat.
Every small thing you do for yourself health adds up. The grief is heavy and it comes from a place of love. The grief knows the pain is wronging you.
I’m proud of you. I hope on the good days you can be proud of yourself.
Keep going.
"everyone's a little autistic"
not true
rude actually
minimizing a disability
"everyone's a little weird"
true
human brains are very different
not diagnosing random people
works for neurotypicals too
I think it sucks that you have to go to so many different kinds of doctor to take care of yourself. It's the 21st century. I should be able to go to a single office where they scan me with a big xerox machine and tell me what I'm allergic to and why my tummy hurts and if I have any cancer or cavities or if my glasses prescription has changed. And then I should get a sticker.
This month, shoutout to new mobility aid users. People who've just recently bought a cane or a wheelchair or a rollator or any other mobility aids and are just getting used to them. People who are still figuring out how to navigate in them. It's alright if the aid that you thought would help you actually turned out to be useless/more destructive. Its alright if on some days even your aid cannot give you support. You are still valid, your struggle still real, and I hope you find what's right for you really soon <3
come on child safety lid, you know it’s me…
Disabled and chronically ill people are allowed to enjoy things and do things they like (if they’re able) while still being sick and disabled. Yes, even if they aren’t employed. Hope this helps.
