Detroit Become Almost Human

The first episode of Almost Human. And oh my god! Now I know where David Cage got his inspiration from! There are so many parallels to be found! John Kennex is practically Hank Anderson, only younger, he is very reminiscent of Nick Mann from Blue Steel.

The resemblance to Hank is striking: both are decent cops, reliable, calm, although they sometimes show aggression, but nevertheless, they are worthy guys. They have some issues and tragedies in the past, sometimes show impulsiveness and a skeptical attitude towards androids.

However, even the setting is very similar. God, even the police station looks a lot like Hank's.

Dorian and Connor have more differences, but nevertheless, the similarities are just as obvious: both are state of art models. Although Dorian's model's gone out of production, he is still a very expensive model, with some glitches in the system such as emotional outbursts.

Although Dorian initially tells John that he is different from other androids in that he can feel from the start, this is more like a deviation. He's curious, constantly getting on John's nerves the way Connor got on Hank's, constantly violating his personal space and commenting when he wasn't asked, while John keeps trying to shut him up, to no avail. It's practically the beginning of Hank and Connor's relationship! And at the same time, these two manage to become friends almost by the end of the first series.

Hank didn't care about androids until he met Connor, John didn't care about androids until he met Dorian. (to be continued)❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🐻🤖

HankCon: Roses and the Zen Garden...CRUCIAL EVIDENCE!!!

Zen Garden origins: Center of observation

So what exactly are the origins of the Zen garden and how does this apply to the Zen garden that is actively inside of Connor’s mind? Well a Zen garden stands for a center of observation for one to sit and quietly and reflect upon life and the self as well as being merely an observer to events unfolding around you. The gardens include a central observation point encircled by natural elements like trees and rocks. It is also the perfect place for mediation to occur and this makes sense as to why Connor goes to the Zen garden when he closes his eyes and “makes a report to CyberLife.” The garden is supposed to be simplistic in terms of foliage as to not distract the mind. 

Flowers are a distraction and not used in Zen gardens. 

Especially roses with their bright red color….this would not be allowed in a Zen garden as it is distracting and would not allow you to focus and become one with the environment. So…Why are they in Connor’s Zen Garden and in the CENTER PIECE OF THE GARDEN NO LESS? The answer may lie in the timing of Connor’s first “Zen garden trip” which comes in the chapter: “Waiting for Hank” 

It seems odd to me that his first meditation is distracted by these roses in the centerpiece of his Zen garden at this particular time after meeting Hank for the first time and being officially assigned the role of ‘partner’ … 

Roses symbolizes love…

Well this is obvious but roses are the staple symbol of lovers in the flower world. This means that love is something that is heavily on Connor’s mind, as it is at the center of the Zen garden….

What Amanda says and does here is important.

Amanda clips two roses and lays them on the table if on good path and your relationship with Hank is good.

On a play through that makes Hank Hostile before you get to the Zen garden…yes this can happen I had him Hostile at Jimmy’s bar, she only clips one if on machine Connor path. The other ROSE is obviously HANK. In fact if you go this way with Connor Amanda doesn’t even have the garden shears that she has on the “deviation” path. There is no love to be cultivated if Hank is no longer open to you….

I think you can see what I am trying to say here but let me explain. The distraction (roses symbolizing love) in Connors mind (the Zen garden) can go either 1 of 2 ways…Love or no love and it revolves around Hank.

This may be a hot take, but I don't think people would have such an issue with hankcon if:

Connor didn't have a "born sexy yesterday" complex. He's a detective android programmed mostly to understand crime scenes and solving mysteries, so he is mature enough to understand crimes, felonies, and morality (at a certain level). However, you can tell he doesn't have a good grasp on regular adult humor (or sex jokes), which was pretty much proven when Hank asked him if he knew where he could shove his instructions, to which he responds "No? Where?"

Hank didn't look like somebody's cigarette smoking, beer guzzling paw paw. Hank, if we'll just be honest, looks pretty...aged. not in a bad way, but the average person does not see much sex appeal in someone's cranky pop pop. I, personally, don't take interest in men that old, and I'm not making fun of you with seriousness if you do, but I just don't see it, and I feel like people would care less if he looked younger. (Saying this as someone who does think Clancy Brown was attractive).

It may be the age gap, but I think the maturity is also a part of it as well.

Hi. I have something to say about this.

1. No. You're misremembering or just twisting the facts. Connor's behavior around Hank is very deliberate, and Hank knows he's being played like a fiddle, and he enjoys it and plays along. This is one of the most significant elements of their chemistry, and this makes Connor the opposite of the "born sexy yesterday" trope. Please don't infantilize him.

2. In the game, Hank is 53 years old. Idk your taste, so here's the list of white actors who are older than that: RDJ, Daniel Craig, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Damon, Ewan McGregor, Josh Brolin, Gerard Butler, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mads Mikkelsen, Javier Bardem, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau... should I continue?

Many of these people have extensive histories of substance abuse. But somehow I really doubt that anyone is going to complain about Hannibal railing a robot who looks like a guy in his 30s.

So the question here is not about Hank's age or an age gap. It's about beauty standards, lookism, and some people trying to justify their hatred with terms they don't know the meaning of.

There is no issue with hankcon. Those who have issues with hankcon don't know how relationships work. Or how characters work. Or how shipping works.

1. I consider Connor's "No? Where?" a joke, it doesn't make him less adult or whatever. Besides, shouldn't it work for every single human/android ship then? Because following such logic all the androids are like that, well, exept sex models, yet people do not care if there are other younger looking characters involved. Isn't it hypocritical if people make exceptions for other ships but in hankcon it's suddenly a no?

2. It's just a matter of taste. Yes, Hank doesn’t look like standard handsome guys from gay porn comics, but that doesn’t make him any less attractive. You can dislike a character for his looks, because bear type of a man is not for everyone, but hate the ship simply because the character's look doesn't fit someone else's standards of beauty? The age gap isn't even worth mentioning, because we are talking about a pair of an android and a human. Androids have no age. It is also strange to love guy x guy ships yet hate the very guy x guy ship just because one of the guys isn't handsome/young enough for someone? Looks like homophobia to me.

As long as both characters are adults, no one should care how one of them looks like. Because it's still a matter of taste, and there are people who think Hank is the most beautiful man ever.

Although I agree that if Hank looked younger, that would be enough for hankcon to not have any problems as a ship at all. Which makes people even more hypocritical, because nothing actually changes, only characters' looks, personalities and the characters themselves remain the same.

As an age-gap enjoyer, I find it baffling how vehemently anti hankcon people are. I’m in the Kingsman fandom where the main ship is Harry (age 50 something) and Eggsy (24? I think). Granted, they are both very attractive, which is probably part of why it’s so popular. To me, Hankcon should be MORE “acceptable” since Connor is essentially ageless.
