the worst part of that moment where crowley puts his glasses back on is that aziraphale does not understand immediately. his gaze follows the motion so intently, he looks at the eyes disappear behind the glasses with a sad but hopeful smile on his face (nothing lasts forever, he just told him, we'll have to leave the bookshop eventually, but that doesn't matter as long as we're together, right? maybe he should have said the quiet part out loud) . i think, for a moment, he takes the gesture as an affirmation, as crowley's way to say 'let's do this, let's go' but then he hears him say 'good luck' and that's when it drops, only then does it dawn on him,,, only then he understands what the glasses mean and his hopes come crashing down, i----
