hello everybody!!
I haven't yet spoken out about the blm movement on tumblr and I wanted to share some thoughts.
1) Using all lives matter over black lives matter exaggerates the fact that you are in a position of priveledge and you are still being ignorant to those facing injustice.
2) White priveledge doesn't deny the fact that you may have had a hard life, it simply means that the colour of your skin does not add to the struggles in your day to day life and life in general.
3) If you do not have any money to donate to bail funds then there are a few videos up on YouTube that you can watch and all the adsense from those videos goes towards charities that support the blm movement - search zoe amira in YouTube and one of these videos should come up.
4) If you are in a position where you are fortunate enough to have the money to donate, there are several bail funds that you can donate to as well as the blacklivesmatter charity and other organisations. If you can't decide which bail fund to donate to, there is an organisation which splits your donation across multiple jails:
Split a donation to all the bail funds, mutual aid funds, and activist organizations listed on this page. If you have questions or would lik
5) Remember to keep educating yourself on the topic. One book I would recommend based on police brutality is Dear Martin by Nic Stone, it is an incredibly empowering read.
6) Sign petitions! If you go on the blm website you will find loads of petitions on there to sign.
7) Keep updated with the riots and try to get your voices heard! Don't be silent!
8) If you are able to go to a protest, then take that opportunity and demonstrate that you will not back down until justice is served.
9) And most importantly, decide for yourself which side of history you want to be on. Do you want to be on the side of those who have suffered or those who are causing the suffering (the oppressors)? Being neutral is choosing the side of the oppressor.
Thank you for reading,
Beth
