Happy Halloween! 🎃 To celebrate, I'm sharing what I think Kate and Yelena's opinions would be on some of the horror movies Hailee and Florence have been in. Up first is one of Florence's earlier movies, Malevolent! 👻
So I don't have a super concrete headcanon about what Kate and Yelena's opinions on horror movies would be. I could see Kate being a huge fan and Yelena loving slashers (one thing I know is she would NOT be a fan of psychological/elevated horror), but I could also see them both being really jumpy and not enjoying being scared. I think a good middle ground would be that Kate likes to watch them around Halloween and Yelena likes horror comedies and older slashers she can laugh at. But however you think they feel about horror movies, I think this would be the perfect kind of horror movie for them.
It's got a great spooky vibe that would definitely creep them out and enough jump scares to have them jumping into each other's arms, but it's nothing that's going to disturb them too much or stay with them after the credits roll. They would definitely be on edge the whole time, and Yelena would absolutely be yelling at the characters when they do stupid shit (she absolutely does that, especially during horror movies). Kate would be especially freaked out by the haunting aspect; any horror movie about ghosts is especially scary to her. But she would pretend she's not scared even when she's tucking her face into Yelena's shoulder. Yelena would remind her that she picked the movie with a smirk on her face, but it quickly disappears when she jumps and spills the popcorn all over the floor (much to Lucky and Fanny's delight).
If you're looking for a spooky ghost movie this Halloween, I highly recommend this movie! Now spoilers under the cut
Yelena would absolutely figure out that Mrs. Green killed the girls long before it's revealed. She would be really good at that, and sometimes Kate is annoyed by it, but she's too focused on the ghost girls to mind. They would definitely become more invested when they learn that the ghosts are of little girls; it's all too disconnected from reality to be truly upsetting, but of course it makes them feel for them so much more. And they would both be very invested in Angela, since she's a pretty relatable character for both of them (has Florence ever played a character who wasn't traumatized?!?). Kate does hold Yelena tighter during the scene where Mrs. Green tortures Jackson, and Yelena does a sharp intake of breath when she hears the "He's the only thing I have left!" line. Thankfully it's not too intense though, and it gets back to pretty classic slasher action fairly quickly. As far as horror movies go, they would like it, but like I said, it wouldn't stay on their minds too long after watching it.
And that's pretty much how I feel about it too; it's good, but nothing to write home about. Florence kills it as always, and the shot of her killing Mrs. Green is fantastic. It was spooky, but if you're an experienced horror movie watcher you probably won't be scared. The haunted house plot is really well executed and Angela, Jackson, Elliot, and Mrs. Green are pretty strong characters. I don't know if I'll ever come back to it, but it's definitely a fun watch for a horror movie marathon!
imagine Rocky getting jealous of other Eridians because apparently their carapaces have really pretty colors and patterns so to Grace he’s always like “remember when I saved your life. remember when I gave you enough astrophage to go home. remember all the times i watched you sleep. remember. do you remember Grace.”
Btw pro tip from someone who is far too paranoid for his own good but also loves horror content like a fucking idiot: imagine whatever is scaring you atm trying to sell you weed. This always helps.
