On protecting women : Grateful that I live in a community that cares about ending MALE VIOLENCE. This wanted poster was taped to my buildings front door because the attacks happened within .2 miles of my house. We are gonna find u! PROTECT LESBIANS How many women do u know with no family, no network of ppl, no husband or boyfriend to support them financially? How many women do you know surviving on their own bc their family disowned them? How many women do you know who became lesbians after leaving behind their community, their relationship, and their family obligations - in the pursuit of happiness & an authentic life? Many of these womyn need your support NOW. Many of these women are your friends that can't afford the $10 cover to that show. They would even rather buy a dime with that $10 than dinner. What's the point? They might have eating disorders and self harm bc patriarchy has hurt their bodies ability to love itself. They have been attacked by men and abandoned by women. They have not found secure safe housing and they do not always make rent. They live with homophobes and with predatory dudes because those are their options. They get harassed by men everyday on the street and are told one day a dick will "fix them". They have their identities questioned and debated by heterosexuals and by queers. They used to have a festival that held space for them once a year, but that chapter too has closed. They don't have any lesbian bars left and they don't have any feminist bookstores. #neoliberalism These are your sisters. These are the women who fight for every woman's right to full bodily autonomy and female liberation from male violence. These are women who speak in low whispers and hold hands under dimly lit tables because in some places our love is still against the Male approved law. We are lesbians. We are said not to exist and our very existence is proof that women can do and be anything and everything. We need to protect our hearts and our bodies and our minds from misogynistic terrorism. We need to remember what feminism is fundamentally about & stop fucking over other women 👍🏽 We need to take responsibility for all the ways we do intentionally harm women's lives.
