Because I listened on repeat to get the recipe, and I am unable to get my heart to tell me the proper setup

Masala Chai for Four

2 1/2 cups water

2 1/2 cups milk

3 tablespoons loose leaf black tea

3 tablespoons sugar

2 tablespoons cardamom, at least

1 scant teaspoon cinnamon or clove

4 teaspoons crushed ginger

Heat the water, milk and tea to a simmer, let it go a minute or three (unless you’re one of those folks who like their tea strong enough to demand voting rights, then go read a novel while it simmers) take the tea off the heat and add the sugar and spices.

( I Lied, my heart wants about a half-teaspoon of peppercorns simmered in the milk with the tea and a couple of grinds of nutmeg added to each mug before you pour in the chai. You might want to strain the peppercorns out when you serve it. )

Also, I’ve used cardamom as a replacement for cinnamon in baking recipes before, so my instinct is to leave the cinnamon out, toss in a half teaspoon of whole cloves with the peppercorns, and use honey for the sugar, but I am not an expert on chai. That’s just my favorite profile for winter drinks.

i think the funniest and realist thing i’ve realized lately is how troubling idealization can be. every person is just… a person. the very people you want to impress or be apart of are just people. even if they seem wildly intimidating because of the way they look or because of their reputation, every one is just a person. human. as embarrassing, as remorseful and they are going through stages of growth just like you are. we only see what we want to see and then drown ourselves further in our own depression and we don’t have to.

truly and i am learning the less i idealise others, the more willing i am to meet people where they are warts n all. and the more willing i am to show myself too and bring my whole self into things. my own embarrassment becomes a new normal and fine thing. stumbling becomes more endearing.
