Blessed Imbolc!
The first day of spring, half way toward the speing Equinox. This doesn’t mean the darkness will just go away and it will become warmer, but things are beginning to stir within the Earth.
Use this time to think of things you’d like to start and begin working toward them. Things won’t happen straight away, but this is a good time to allow new beginnings to happen. Start to clear out your space and mind so that when Oestara comes around you can become anew :)

“If you just want to see what is here, you’re going to be walking for years, and still not find what there is to find.” Aria said with a slight shrug of her shoulders, before putting her hand on Maddy’s. “Okay come on little birdie, walk with me. I’ll show you what actually matters. And before you ask i you can see the dragons nests… don’t. None of us gets to. I fuck one of them, and even I don’t get to see hers.”
“Oh, okay.” She said with a nod as she let the other take her hand. “I wasn’t going to ask about those... But uhm... Okay.” she said, frowning a little at the rest of what this strange girl said. She blushed a little and fiddled with the side of her shirt as she shifted closer to the red head.

Odette ignored the pang that she felt when she mentioned traveling with her familiar and attempted a smile, albeit a weak one. “I did not. I stayed home, tinkered in my garden, read,” she remarked with a shrug. She lived a very quiet, simple life, not because she wanted to necessarily, but for her own safety she felt it is was prudent. “Did you? I’m sure I will hear all about it in passing.” The students talked… a lot. “Hmm, I have not, but I would consider it it f the right one expressed interest. Do you think he would actually help you all that much?” she wondered, eyes drifting back out over the water.
Savannah looked up at Odette and smiled gently. “Did you at least have some fun?” she asked gently. She pursed her lips a little and nodded a little. “I did.” She felt like Odette didn’t have a desire to hear more, so she didn’t mention more. “I think it would be useful to have another pair of eyes for the beginners. It can be easy for them to get things wrong, and I don’t want any accidental curses or explosions. My room is generally safe, but none-the-less... I can’t do everything myself, no matter how much I would want to.”

“Fair enough. And I am … a zygote I guess.” He replied and then laughed, “I appreciate that. If I can help in any way, I appreciate the experience. I really want to finish up my PhD in good standing. If I’m lucky they may just let me stay on and teach here.”
“I think this analogy may be getting a little away from us, Quentin.” She laughed and shook her head. “I think you can manage. I have faith in you.” Savannah looked at the watch on her wrist, before giving him an apologetic expression. “I’m sorry Quentin, I have a meeting in Kahina soon, I need to be heading out. But remember, if you need anything, you can come to me.”

“Relative is term of art, ummm, given that some people have been here … for like centuries.” Quentin replied with a shrug. “Fair enough. Minimal explosions … got it. I’ll do my best to help with that anyway.”
“I suppose. But especially in terms of centuries, I’m basically a baby. It’s only been 4 years for me. But like I said, I’m still thinking about it. But, regardless of the TAing, if you would like to help with other things, or if I could help with your studies, do let me know. There are some things I’ve been working on that need two people, even with me having Erin.”

‘It’s only my first day so it’s all a bit of a shock to they system,” she shrugged. It was a promising first day though, and she’d gotten her first friend. “I have but I’m being a bit of an over-achiever and trying to juggle six classes.”
“Well, I definitely understand that. I remember feeling like that for almost my entire first year. It gets better.” Savannah laughed lightly. “And 6 classes is quite a bit. Be careful to not overwhelm yourself. If you stretch yourself too thin, you risk hurting yourself, or others.”

It was all the young witch could do to not apologise again; not her fault how she was raised. “Um… it’s just that… uh… well… It wasn’t a great introduction really.” Shadow took a deep breath. In… and out… She’d been brought up not to complain but something told her this woman wasn’t going to accept that. “I didn’t even get her name, she just walked in and kicked me out.”
“Well, that’s unfortunate. I’m sorry to hear that,” she said, reaching over to pat the other’s leg lightly. “If you want some advice, let me know.” She sighed softly and pulled her hand back. “How has your time here been besides that? Have you decided what classes you’re going to take for your first year?”

“Well, as long as you’re happy down here.” The redhead responded with a slight shrug of her shoulders, grabbing her bag and started to put her clothes into it, not wanting them to get ruined by the water either. She raised a brow as the witch said she didn’t have to explained herself to her, and Aria could just smile. “Well, am free to question, but you chose to answer. That was your choice, after all I did not demand an answer, I am not the headmistress.”
Savannah rolled her eyes and turned back around. She slowly sat back down, deciding to not respond to the student again. There were a few more things that she wanted to do before she left the beach, and talking with this particular student was not going to help with that. She put her hands over the bowl and waited a few moments before she started to talk again.

Aria was on her way down to the water, just seeing someone sitting almost by the edge as she was making her way down. Though she saw the ritual, the fires from the candles. Sitting that close to the water to do fire was just foolish really. Starting to strip down so she could make her way to the island without being hindered by the clothes she’d just put in the waterproof bag, she raised a brow as the other started to speak. “Ah, blessings… Would it not make more sense to do the blessing inside of the building where everyone will pass through professor, rather than outside by the water?”
“Not for me. I am strengthened by water. My familiar is a selkie, after all,” she looked at the redhead for a few moments, a small smile on her face as she shrugged. “And this is for the entire campus, not just the halls of the buildings. So this is where I am strongest and most able to do so.” She gestured at the water. “And I should not have to explain my reasoning to you, Aria.”

“Well.. um sorry for interrupting Ma’m.” And already she’d nearly hit a teacher with her jacket. This evening was going so well for her first day right now it really was. Her sister was gonna love hearing about this. “It’s nothing really, just a small… communication issue… with my new roommate is all,” she answered, not really wanting to get anyone in trouble.
“You didn’t interrupt. And next time you apologize to me, I’m sure I can come up with something creative to discourage it.” she said, arching an eyebrow at Shadow. “Uh huh. And what was this communication issue?” she asked, leaning back a little on the couch. “You can talk to me, I’m not in the habit of tattling, Shadow.”

Taking her cue from the woman, Dallan also sank slowly into the seat behind her. “Sorry, I uh… I didn’t realise that anyone else was in here sorry.” And there she went with the apologising again. It kinda seemed to be something she did a lot of in her life. “Oh, I’m Shadow,” she answered quietly.
“I’ve just been doing a bit of reading, and soaking up the energy. I wasn’t particularly expecting anyone to notice, so you’re in the clear.” She nodded a little. “I’m Savannah Markley. I teach ritual magic here. Welcome to Hecate, Shadow. Do you want to tell me why you were flinging things around the room?” she asked, arching an eyebrow

“Oh hells! Sorry. Sorry I’m so so sorry. Sorry,” the young witch babbled as she carefully took her jacket back. “I’m so sorry I really am… I just… Yeah… sorry… I’ll be fine… sorry… just sorry.” The words were leaving her mouth at a hundred miles an hour. She felt so bad, she hadn’t even noticed anyone else was in here. Hells hells hells.
Savannah laughed softly and shook her head a little. “It’s fine, it didn’t hit me.” She gave the jacket back and took a seat next to the young woman. “Everything’s fine, you don’t need to apologize, I’m not upset at all. What’s your name dear?” she asked, her head tipped to the side a little.
Safe to say that her first impression of her roommate was not great. Within moments of meeting the girl, Shadow had been promptly evicted from their room. As a result she’d found herself aimlessly wandering until she ended up in one the common rooms for lack of a better place to be. “Urgh!” she growled irritatedly as she threw her jacket in a random direction.
Savannah was in one of the common areas reading a book and just taking in the energy as the students arrived and started to mingle. She looked up as she heard a growl and noticed the student “Careful!” Savannah said as she caught the jacket before it hit her in the face. “Are you okay?” she asked, walking over to the girl and handing her back her jacket.

“Oh, it was fine,” Odette replied with a little shrug, idly wondering why she’d avoided the question, but not enough to ask again. She watched her cast the spell and nodded at the next question. “I am, yes. A few more things I need for the classroom, but otherwise, everything is all set. What about you? Are you ready?”
“Did you go anywhere? Erin and I did some traveling again,” she said with a small shrug. “I think I’m nearly ready, I have most of the new crystals I need and I actually developed a few new simple rituals for the first years. And I’m thinking about taking on a TA. I spoke with Quentin earlier, and he seemed interested. Have you thought about taking on any of the graduate students like that?”

“We need all the blessings we can get, so please, carry on,” Odette replied as she took a seat on the sand a ways away from the circle. She had no intentions to disturb her. “How was your holiday, Savannah?” she inquired politely, glancing her way a moment, before her gaze turned toward the waves. She was ready for the school year, oddly enough, though she hoped the first years would be better than the last few.
“Hello Odette,” Savannah said before she sat back down, facing the other way now. “How was yours?” She offered the other professor a small smile before she closed her eyes. She was still listening, but she needed to concentrate for a few moments on the next blessing she wanted to cast. She spoke for a few moments before opening her eyes again. “Are you ready for the year to start?”
