Tarot Notes #02 <3

A compilation of tarot notes based on my experience and observations as a tarot reader.

🍃 Want to try tarot but you don't have a tarot deck yet? You can use a website that pick items from a list (eg; randomresult.com). Simply key in all the tarot card names, ask a question, shuffle as many times as you feel needed and bam. You got the cards. Now all you have to do is search up the meaning on google!

🍃 A good way to work on your intuition is to just write down whatever comes to mind, no matter how much you think it doesn't resonate or how insignificant you think it is.

🍃 Adding onto the above, there's been so many times where I hesitated on writing something down in a reading but I did anyway and that something that I thought was insignificant or didn't resonate ended up resonating so well with the client.

🍃 Tarot decks can't lie to you, they're objects, how they gonna lie?

🍃 The reason readings don't resonate is because:

🍃 (a) the reader cannot connect well with the client's energy which is why it's important to find a good tarot reader for you. Finding a good tarot reader for you is like finding a friend. Naturally, you won't connect with certain people and you connect better with certain others.

🍃 (b) the client's limiting beliefs. Eg; if you don't believe or you're in doubt about the existence of your soulmate and you ask a reader who your soulmate is, then it won't resonate because you don't believe your soulmate exists. And instead of getting a reading that tells you about your soulmate, you get a reading that tells you about yourself instead.

🍃 (c) spirits messing with your reading. Most of the spirits that mess with your reading are overprotective spirit guides. They come visit you uninvited when you're trying to get cards out and if they don't like what you're doing, they'll mess with your reading.

🍃 or simply (d) the reader made mistakes like misinterpreting the cards, asking multiple different questions at the same time, using cards that aren't related to the reading (remember the too much jumper cards comment I said in my previous notes?), etc.

🍃 A tip for reading court cards; assign them to a specific theme (people, situations or the client's inner self) so that when it comes out in a reading, you won't get confused on what it represents.

🍃 If you didn't know yet; your spirit guides can get very attached to a deck that they really like. One way to find out is to connect with your spirit guides and ask if any of them are attached to this deck (treat it as a yes/no question). Some people don't read for other people with a deck that their spirit guide is attached to but ultimately, it's up to you and your spirit guide.

🍃 Also, tarot decks can have an existential crisis where they would feel very lifeless and quiet. However, they'd still be able to do readings well.

🍃 The pentacle symbol represents the 5 elements coming together; earth, air, fire, water and spirit. It's also a symbol of protection.

🍃 Did I mention that the Six of Wands is the ultimate card for success?

🍃 When the Kings/Queens + the Magician comes out during a reading, it can mean someone has a lot of power and influence over others. This can both be a good and bad thing.

🍃 When the Moon + the Magician or the Devil comes out, it can represent someone who wants or is trying to deceive you.

🍃 Eight of Swords can represent victim mentality because in most illustrations, the person is able to escape the situation if they just put a bit of effort into it but instead, they do nothing.

🍃 Don't forget that the Sun can also relate to youth, children and inner child.

🍃 The Lovers, 2 of Cups and 4 of Wands are the best cards to get for a love reading.

🍃 To me, the 2 of Cups represents soulmates.

🍃 And the 4 of Wands represents marriages (long lasting relationships), twin flames and even a past life connection.

🍃 Six of Cups can be negative in a financial or career reading, representing that you're being too childish and carefree.

🍃 Wheel of Fortune can represent someone who believes in fate and that everything happens for a reason.

🍃 Since the High Priestess represents someone full of wisdom, they could also be someone who pursues higher education or someone who had already done so.

🍃 Knight of Cups can represent a hopeless romantic.

🍃 Different publishers have different deck designs.

🍃 Tarot decks published by Llewellyn Publications have huge casings, guidebooks that have more than 250+ pages and their cards are smooth, standard size and thickness.

🍃 Liminal11 have unique casings for their decks; a magnetic box with semi-circle holes at the bottom sides and another box inside it. Some of their guidebooks are hardcover but small.

🍃 Some Lo Scarabeo tarot decks also have unique casings; their casings have a cover on the top that you can open like a jar. Their guidebooks are multilanguage and because there's limited space in the book, there's little information in them. Oh, they also give two useless extra cards.

🍃 Speaking of guidebooks, reversal meanings are not much talked about in guidebooks and I don't like that.

🍃 Anyway, Rockpool Publishing has published the most amount of gorgeous decks. You can't fight me on this.

🍃 Sasha Graham is a really good tarot deck author, her tarot decks have an interesting story/plot to them.

🍃 By far, the decks that give out the most amazing energy are Tarot of the Divine and White Numen.

🍃 When I use the White Numen tarot deck, it feels like I'm conversing with an actual person. I think it's the deck itself.

🍃 The Linestrider tarot deck is pretty passive and quiet (but it does readings well!). Maybe it's resting or doing some self-reflection? I don't know.

🍃 Goetia: Tarot in Darkness (aka my demon deck) is surprisingly very feminine — it introduced itself with the Empress. Also, it does amazing 18+ readings.

🍃 So far, the easiest deck for me to do intuitive tarot readings with is the Ethereal Visions Illuminated tarot deck. The imagery of the cards is just amazing and easy to work with.

Mensuration, time for releasing and rest. Focus on self care and do what recharges your battery. Have alone time and use less social media. Journal prompts are what’s holding me back and what’s no longer serving me. For exercise do yin yoga. Try to do less I know not everyone can avoid work but don’t schedule anything unnecessary.

Spring 🌷

Follicular, planning period and hustle time. Work hard and workout hard. You will have more energy and better mood. But it will only increase in summer. So make use of this time and work hard and plan for the upcoming seasons.

Summer ☀️

Ovulation, this is when you have highest energy. Work hard but also focus on fun and social time. This is also the perfect time to get out of your comfort zone and into your growth zone. Go on an adventure! For workout go with high energy routines. Have fun!

Autumn 🍂

Luteal, this can be the hardest season. You will be more emotional and experience pms. So treat yourself and do what you need to. Self care hard right now. Journaling can help. Practice improving your mindset as it might shift to the negative during this time. Go lighter on your workouts. Be patient with yourself during this season. Don’t plan too much for yourself.

Are you really a witch, or are you just delusional?

Something all witches have in common is the ability to receive supernatural messages. Dreams, symbols, patterns that reveal something hidden.

We may have different beliefs as to where they come from, but we all get them all the same.

Today, almost everyone claims to be seeing such signs. The same numbers over and over. Flowers of the same color. The same scent, sound or flavor.

But noticing patterns is often simply apophenia – the human tendency to find connections in meaningless data.

Today, it is mostly delusional bait. But back then, it was a crucial trait. To early humans, everything had to mean something.

They could not dismiss a movement as a gust of wind, in case it was a predator hiding in tall grass, waiting to advance.

The colors of the leaves mattered. So did the brightness of the stars and the flight of the butterflies. For they signaled hurricanes, eruptions and landslides.

Our ancestors learned to see patterns everywhere for the purpose of survival. But today, we desperately search these patterns for something magical.

In the course of a day, which could involve watching YouTube videos, studying for a Math exam and checking your bank account, you will see an endless amount of number series. Timestamps on a clip. Answers to an equation. Figures on your debit-credit list. You will be oblivious to most of these numbers.

But if you see 11:11 twice or thrice within 24 hours, you will probably think it is an occult, divine or spiritual sign. Not because it actually is, but because you have conditioned your mind to notice it… to look for it… to wait for it. Delusion, nothing more.

So how can one tell apophenia from something genuine?

If you have been seeing a pattern for weeks or months… and nothing is happening in your life… then that pattern is meaningless.

Because when the Universe or the divine sends a witch signals, the effect is immediate.

When we were kids, my brother realized that every time he saw an apple on the ground, something good would happen to him. He would find money in random places, or receive unexpected presents. His favorite team would win a match, or he would earn a boy scout badge.

And whenever I see a fish bowl, I would hear from someone from my past. Within an hour. That fast.

Unless your own signs also yield something… they probably mean nothing.

Magic is more real than anything. But many see it where it isn’t.

If you really are a magical being, your powers will not be banished by a bit of critical thinking.

How to Predict Timing with Tarot

When performing the Celtic Cross, there are three positions that can reveal when the event will happen: The Advice, The Ultimate Outcome, and The Underworld. Acknowledge all these possibilities. But your intuition will tell you which is most likely.

Swords are weeks, because while a sword is quick to cut, it first requires some thinking on the warrior’s part.

Cups are months, because they are water, and water flows with the moon, which completes a cycle in roughly a month.

Pentacles are seasons to years, because they are seeds, and some seeds only require a season to grow while others need a year.

The timings for the Major Arcana and the Pages are related to the cards’ meanings. Once you know the meanings, you know the timings.

To traditional fortunetellers, these are but normal interpretations. Yet they are often alien to modern readers and sources.

The Star is a bad card.

It says, “No, this is nothing but wishful thinking.” It represents endless hoping, with nothing ever happening.

The Nine of Wands is victory.

This man never grew complacent after his past triumph. Such vigilance will ensure he also wins the next battle.

The Ten of Wands is abundance.

That man is not burdened. He is carrying his harvest home. It is heavy, but he is happy.

The Three of Pentacles is achievement.

A stone mason from a humble background has managed to earn the respect of both Church and State. Impressive.

The Four of Pentacles is the ideal man.

Learn the Most Accurate and Important Tarot Spread There Is

Anyone serious about tarot needs to master the Celtic Cross. Here is why as well as how.

Why It is Superior

There are a myriad tarot spreads. You can make your own, or use none. Just pull as many cards as you like and read them as you want. As with food and fashion, we each have a preference. But there are reasons the Celtic Cross deserves so much reverence.

1) It respects you and your question.

The Celtic Cross is not designed to give rushed, biting and abrupt answers. It recognizes that your question is important to you. So it takes the time to explore every detail of your situation before giving you advice and a prediction.

2) It kindly proves itself to you.

Fortunetelling involves powers beyond the natural. Powers that only a few can truly harness. To minimize the trickiness of the business, the Celtic Cross states what you already know: your past, hopes, fears, pains, secrets, goals. If it accurately describes these things, you can trust its promise of what tomorrow will bring.

3) It allows for great interaction.

When interpreting a spread, it is crucial to look at how the cards are connecting. Is the Page of Cups offering his chalice to The Magician? Is the Knight of Swords on his way to attack the King of Wands? The way the Celtic Cross is laid out lets many interactions come about.

How to Perform It

It has dozens of variations. Each reader has a fancied version. Below is what my elders taught me. I use it faithfully.

How to Interpret It

STEP 1: Read the cards in the above order, one by one.

Then read the Ultimate Outcome cards as one: The Queen of Wands is reprimanding the man in the Nine of Wands. But he is supported by The Sun. All will be well for the querent in the end.

STEP 2: Compare the Near Future with the Ultimate Outcome.

The man in the Seven of Pentacles has put life on pause, anxiously awaiting what is next. Then it comes: first, it will be bad (Nine of Wands), then he will be glad (The Sun).

STEP 3: Compare the Buried Truth with the Hope or Fear.

If it is a positive card, it is the hope. Otherwise, it is the fear.

The two positions are aligned. A buried need for stability (Four of Wands) and a desire to be solid and steady (King of Pentacles). The querent is clear about his wishes.

STEP 4: Compare the Conscious Goal with the Ultimate Outcome.

It all happens as hoped for. The querent wishes to get away with something (Seven of Swords). And after a bit of scuffle (Nine of Wands), he does (The Sun).

STEP 5: Compare the Advice with the Ultimate Outcome.

The querent needs to stop acting the victim (Eight of Swords). Once he moves forward, he will face the punishment he fears, yes (Queen of Wands and Nine of Wands). But it will all work out (The Sun). No rainbow without rain.

STEP 6: Close the reading.

For this, you have ten more things to do. All the best to you.

How to Change the Future that Tarot Predicted

1) Look at the advice card in the spread.

If the ultimate outcome is good, this card will help you ensure that it happens.

If the ultimate outcome is bad, this card will tell you how to avoid it.

2) Look at the card at the bottom of the deck.

If the overall reading is positive, this card will tell you how to make it last.

If the overall reading is negative, this card will tell you how to change things.

How to Use Tarot to Speak to Someone’s Higher Self

There are situations when you need to ask someone a question, but their conscious self is unable to answer. This ritual has been used by those whose loved one is in a coma, to settle things before they part. And those whose children are unable to speak, to find out if they were abused or suffered another trauma.

The Setting

Go to a private space at any time of the day, as long as the sun is still up. Make sure it is the only light source, no matter how dim. Turn off everything else.

Sit on the floor with your legs crossed. Have the photograph in front of you of the person you wish to speak to.

The Silencing

Hold your tarot deck. Overhand shuffle your cards, as you keep your eyes on the photograph, and say seven times:

This incantation silences everyone else: entities who might be nearby… your own subconscious… your deck’s own voice. It clears the path for the person’s higher self.

The Summoning

Stop shuffling. Address the photograph in front of you by announcing the person’s name. The one you call them by. And then say:

ORION HIKONIR SEREKAS

These words implore the person’s higher self to open up.

The Inquiry

Cut your deck in half. Leave them on the floor that way, as you voice out your question. Take as long as you like. Speak in the language that you normally use with this person.

Once you are done, put the deck back together again, and hold it in your hands.

The Conversation

Pull one card from the top of the deck, and another from the bottom. Read them together. That pair is your answer.

If you have received the answer you need, consider the session over. But if you need clarification, you are allowed a follow-up question. Voice it out, and as before, pull one card from the top and another from the bottom. Read them together. The session is now over.

The Farewell

To say goodbye, address the photograph once more, saying the name that you call the person by. Then speak the summoning spell in reverse:

A challenge is coming. You will need to be strong.

How to Interpret Tarot Literally

Method 1: Use the cards’ names.

What is the modern version of a chariot? A car.

What does death mean for a car? Engine failure.

Therefore, The Chariot + Death predicts your car breaking down — perhaps causing an accident.

Method 2: Use the cards’ meanings.

What does The Tower mean? A disaster. A shock.

What is the Three of Swords all about? Heartbreak. Agony.

Therefore, The Tower + the Three of Swords predicts chest pains that could lead to a heart attack.

Method 3: Use the cards’ imagery.

What is depicted in the Five of Pentacles? A cold, snowy day.

What is depicted in the Ace of Cups? Water that overflows.

Therefore, the Five of Pentacles + the Ace of Cups predicts bad weather that could result in a flood.

Kinda feel like I'm withering away since I've been so tired lately and my body wants me to rest, my mind is at its end and I just need to relax. But it feels impossible. Time and the awareness of it slipping away is making me feel terrified. But it is okay to be still, to do nothing sometimes. To just be, breathe and ponder about the way I can't seem to find my peace. And I constantly have to remind myself that to be alive doesn't nessecarily mean being productive, but to just be and feel. 4 - Doing some soul searching? Find The Hermit. The cards around him will shed some light on your introspection.

5 - Going through some major life changes? Shuffle and find The World. The cards around it will give you the advice you need for this new chapter. 

6 - Had a confusing dream? Shuffle and look for The Moon. The cards on either side will help you interpret the meaning of it.

𝕮𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖓𝖘𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖈𝖗𝖞𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖑𝖘

🌿𝐒𝐌𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐈𝐍𝐆. Smudge sticks can be made of many different herbs. I recommend using white sage smudge sticks. Light it and wave it gently in the air, encouraging the smoke to spill over the crystals.

🌿𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑. You can use salt water from the ocean or simply put salt in a bowl of water. Hold your crystals so that they are immersed in the water. It'll cleanse the energy from the stones. Be sure to clean your crystals using clean water afterwards. Some crystals can not be placed in water because they are too soft, or brittle. Water can cause some stones to fracture and break, or even dissolve! Be sure to look up your crystal and what cleansing is best for it. 

🌿𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍. Sit comfortably in a quiet room or a place of your choosing. Hold your crystals in your hand and close your eyes, allowing the silence and serenity to envelope you. Visualise your crystals in front of you. Picture a wave washing all the negative energy trapped inside the crystals away. Do this until you intuitively feel that they have been cleansed.

🌿𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓. This is the easiest method of cleansing, and safe for all crystals. Also, The full moon can act as a reminder for you that your crystals need cleansing. Simply wait for the full moon and place your crystals outside so that they are surrounded by the moon's gentle energy. If you don't have an outdoor area that is safe for your crystals to be placed, a windowsill will work too. It does not matter if your window does not face the moon. The moon's energy will still be present. Then bring them back inside in the morning.
