Oh Lady Aphrodite Areia,
lady of all love and war,
kind and gentle yet ruthless and merciless,
the adoration I have for you is above all else.
The first goddess I’ve ever worked with,
the one I always start with after taking breaks,
I love most of all your war like nature.
The way you keep your head high in battle,
walking into the battle field at Lord Ares’ side,
beautiful yet dangerous
as you hold your weapon without trembling hands.
I aspire to be like you,
beautiful yet deadly,
though I shall never be quite as amazing as your greatness.
Aphrodite Areia
Godess of war who guides soilders with courage.
Aphrodite, you fight for what you believe in with such admirable fire. Blazing like the heart in your breast.
Protecting your favourite heros, with your cunning and strength.
Your beautiful form shimmers clad in armour on the battlefield. Long hairs blowing past your angelic features.
Aphrodite the gallant who's wit is the only thing sharper than the blade she weilds.
Bearer of victory, you symbolise hope for all those who fight in war.
Love and hate share one attribute, passion. You are the embodiment of passion in all forms, my dear Aphrodite.
Strong and compassionate lady Hegemone, Aphrodite.

APHRODITE AREIA, GODDESS OF WAR AND LOVE <333
aphrodite areia 🗡️
aphrodite areia (Αρεια) means warlike aphrodite. this aspect of aphrodite was worshipped prominently in sparta but also in taras, cyprus, argos, and kythira. when being worshipped as this epithet, aphrodite was depicted in full armour, similar to ares.
it is believed that this epithet came from the war aspects of the goddesses inanna, ishtar, and astarte, all of whom aphrodite is derived from. this strongly influenced the cults of cyprus and cythera, where it was eventually taken to sparta.
ways to worship this epithet 🗡️
⚔︎ stand up for yourself and fight for what you believe in
⚔︎ exercise & do physical activity
⚔︎ learn self defense
⚔︎ use jewelry that has war symbols & tools (swords, weapons, etc.)
⚔︎ listen to music that makes you feel confident (or angry music)
⚔︎ wear clothing that makes you feel good about yourself
⚔︎ be confident & assertive
⚔︎ play action games
⚔︎ set healthy boundaries and don't be afraid to enforce them
⚔︎ learn about wars, especially women in wars
⚔︎ defend minorities
⚔︎ write poems or hymns to these epithets
⚔︎ or write about war & battles
Aphrodite Areia
Anger is a gift
O' determined Aphrodite.
O' mighty Ares.
I pray to you, consorts in burning passion.
With gratitude I preach your reminder of
How much dormant self-worth and hurt pride
Reside in vitriolic anger.
May your presence teach me how to harness it,
How not to spiral in its thorny whirlwind
And choose when to release its poison.
This I pray, as your humble worshipper.
Blessed are your names,
Aphrodite Areia and Lord Ares,
Olympian bringers of retribution!
There’s something so beautiful about the concept of Aphrodite’s epithet of Aphrodite Areia, Aphrodite the Warlike. Greek mythology shows through Aphrodite and Ares’ relationship that love and war go hand in hand, shows that the two things are deeply intertwined; but that gets taken even further with Aphrodite Areia.
Aphrodite is the goddess of passion and happiness as much as love and beauty, and what is a war without passion? What do people fight for if not love and happiness?
And it shows that love can be a fierce thing. Love is so many things. It is gentle, kind, yes, but it is also strong, and passionate, and so much more. It means so many different things to so many different people.
I also think there’s a lot of nuance in what love and war are like that can be represented by Aphrodite being a goddess of both. Love is so often seen as this pure, wholesome thing, but it’s not. Love can cause as much destruction and pain as war; and besides that, it still isn’t inherently pure and good, as no emotions are. (I’m iffy on classifying love as an emotion due to my own experiences being aromantic but that’s not really the point here)
You don't need to be soft and feminine to worship Aphrodite.
You don't need to be a fighter and strong to worship Ares.
You don't need to enjoy alcohol and intimacy to worship Dionysos.
You don't need to steal and be fast to worship Hermes.
You don't need to know how to swim to worship Poseidon.
You don't need to be mature and motherly to worship Hera.
You don't need to like going outside to worship Artemis.
You don't need to be a genius to worship Athena.
If you’re ever having a breakdown, just remember the wise words of the lord himself
