hello there, welcome to my writer's blog

i'm anna, i'm 26 and i'm living in russia for now. well there is already something to be said about that but we will be getting there later

i work in a publishing house as a marketing specialist and am now getting published by another one with my first book it's in russian and i somehow decided that i'm ambitious enough to try writing something in english... so here i am that's what will be happening here from now on – writing, sharing thoughts, posting moodboards and visual stuff for my new story i will gladly answer any questions about anything art-related even if it's about russia (how life is here right now, what are creators feeling and doing and other stuff, whatever comes to mind) here are some details: ⁕ i'm against using ai in art industry where creation of something new is required, therefore i do not write or edit with ai tools and also i do not use ai to brainstorm and/or find inspiration or to get feedback ⁕ i'm lgbtq+ friendly and my new novel tells a story of two queer guys ⁕ i love slowburn, classical literature, a good detective and some dark academia atmosphere ⁕ english is obviously not my first language so here goes a story of a person who tries to fit in so hard to become someone in english-speaking art community... i guess this might be entertaining ⁕ if it's a moodboard: design is by me but i take pictures and photos from pinterest (if not from my camera roll) and therefore cannot tell anything about the rights, sorry :( what i post: ⁕ moodboards ⁕ short parts of the novel ⁕ random aesthetics of my favourite fandoms

sometimes i sit down and think – who is this person i created? who is my character? i know his biography, i am well aware of his strengths and all the tiniest flaws. but who is he, really? he is an inevitable force, a sharp knife pressed to your throat; a spirit lost in his grief; a violent creature who feels so much and hardly ever says anything; he is quite and sad, he is full of love but so, so fierce

i want to see my ideas the way i saw them as a kid. i want freedom, i want no borders, i want to create with an open heart, i want to be not afraid of a large concept, i want to create and write for myself, because i want this story to live, not because people might be interested in it

the idea of simplifying a concept or a text of yours for it to appeal to a wider audience seems so very wrong to me. in the world of globalised cultures and a loud and ample lack of artistic seclusion the only thing which feels right is to make your art as confidential and as, so to say, elitist as it needs to be. some ideas are not made to be simple and easily accessible, and this is fine. creating art should not stand hand in hand with a constant attempt to please people, it should be an impulse, bright and strong, which comes from deep down, from somewhere where your heart is. sometimes to be entertained by a story it is neccessary to dive into it and to think a lot, and being able to create art like this is a goal i've always wanted to reach and will keep on trying to until i'm gone

is being madly in love with your own characters always involved in the process of creating them?

and it's not a type of love we know from admiring our partners or parents or friends. seems like it's close to loving your child, but the feeling is more isolated, suffocating and personal – because you're left alone with a part of your own self impersonated in a concept of a living being

what’s your opinion on the war on ukraine?

i'm in russia for now so i would prefer not to share these thoughts while i'm still here. it's not safe to make public statements for people without a backup plan but! i plan on moving soon and speaking up when it's safe. anyways, my opinions and points of view are perfectly visible in my texts and i will be sharing my wattpad and ao3 links soon hope you'll understand and thank you for your question

writer | writing tools what do you use to structure your stories? i normally use: – google docs for writing the story itself and also for writing full biographies and character arcs – freeform for visualisation and as a storage for ideas, logical connections etc. i love writing there with ipencil! – pinterest boards to boost inspiration i also strongly rely on my memory and try to stay focused and not too carried away by the abundance of tools what are your methods? is there an app any writer must know of?

as an author i'm geniunely curious: how do you start your story? what comes first, the idea or the characters? or mayhaps something else like the plot twist or the ending? i'm planning on posting my journey with my new novel to share and help anyone who is lost but am also interested in how you do it

emigration diaries

the closer our leaving is, the more anxiety steps out of the shadow and becomes loud and overwhelming. the apartment screams that we are leaving soon louder and louder, stares at us from its' empty corners where our belongings once were. it is so very peculiar – not a long time ago it seemed that everything was mine here – the sun in the mornings, the smell of the tram on baumanskaya street, the calming rustle of the green leaves in the yard. but now it is clear – i borrowed all this, from someone, and this someone is bigger and more significant than the people from this neighbourhood, and the administration of the city, and all the other important people in suits. i think about moving from here to somewhere else and the place where i will be soon is mine from the moment i was born. but now i doubt that. can anything be yours? or everything we own we truly borrow? i would like to ask that someone who lives in one place for the whole life: don't they feel like they live in debt and someone is constantly counting the percentage of that debt, staring in their window?
