Hey, folks! I have covid! How are you?
Uh, hey folks, I know I haven’t been active a lot lately but like...
This week has been really rough and I’m, uh, kinda hitting a shame/depression wall, so if you see this and want to comment some love or something, that would be really sweet of you. Thx.
fyi things like insulin, hearing aids, wheelchairs, glasses costing money at all is a form of structural ableism
disabled people should not have to pay to live their lives like everyone else. and in the case of insulin, disabled people should not have to pay to Not Fucking Die
I just got a car and started driving again so I was thinking about some safety things for D/deaf/HoH drivers. One huge concern is the possibility of being pulled over and encountering the police.
I have a magnet similar to this on my car in case of that situation
I also keep a notepad and pen in my glove box with my insurance card and registration. I keep everything is in one place so I won’t have to reach around and look like i’m searching for “something”

I also found this article with more information—
https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2016/deaf-driver-safety-police-kb.html
Drivers with hearing loss should be extra cautious when pulled over by the police, as a recent tragedy in North Carolina reminds us. We have
Too many deaf folks have been killed by police, already. Stay safe!
(Hearing people are encouraged to reblog)
I also have a Deaf Driver card
mine is from Gallaudet, so all the information is for DC but its still effective to let an officer know you’re d/Deaf no matter where you are. It goes in the visor of whatever car I’m driving.
Spread this like butter on cornbread.
reblog to give the person you reblogged this from a sword
it is officially ace week 2021!!!! ive been working on some ideas for subtle ace flag sticker/etc designs and these are what ive come up with. i might in the future make these into phone/desktop wallpapers or maybe even do the aro flag colors/any other ace spectrum flag colors if people are interested - both of these designs are available on my redbubble or you can support me directly on my ko-fi
happy ace week to my fellow aces/aros!!!

While most people imagine Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring when they think about Yellowstone’s hot springs and geysers, the park is full of springs and geysers outside of the public eye. Some I think are best left that way. Don’t go here! It’s dangerous!

Some people can lift 200 pounds. But if they carried it everywhere they went for an entire day without ever putting it down, they’d severely tear their muscles and cause permanent damage to their body.
Some people can enter a 140° car in the summer to get something out of the car. But if they stayed in the car, they’d die from the heat.
Some people can hold their breath underwater for 30 seconds. But if they tried to go scuba diving without the necessary gear, they’d drown.
Clearly, someone doing something for a short period of time does not automatically mean that they can do it indefinitely with no problem.
So why do people assume that if someone can walk for a few seconds, they don’t need a wheelchair?

Fucking iconic. It would also allow suing rapists and domestic abusers with awards starting from 10,000, where if the case is won, half the money goes into a fund for women seeking abortions in other states. It’s modelled exactly from Texas’s unconstitutional bullshit bill. Anyone who opposes the constitutionality of this bill would also be calling into question the anti-abortion bill.

FINALLY SOME GOOD FUCKING NEWS
and the best part?
anyway, my older sister was adopted when she was almost 16 (kinda on accident too), and because of that she got away from an abusive household, went from barely passing classes to being an honour student, and launching into a career where she’s happy and healthy and paying her own way. just two years of parenting where she had 3 meals a day, a bedtime, and parents to help and protect her changed her life radically. Plus, i got an older sister
adopt teenagers.
As an adopted kid I support this message
people who say things like “oh you only have a few years with them” need to remember that these are human beings not a used car. every human being deserves a support system, a jumping off block, a safe place to return
Updated photos of the OT hypo aby poss het SS litter. Holding back the litter, for now. I see a lot of potential in these kids, primarily for groundwork on the super stripe project.
