Why don’t we let the guy whose every plan could be reasonably construed as an abstract suicide attempt take a crack at it

I'm not crying about it I'm not crying about the plant its just a plant I put in the dirt and it sprouted and I was taking care of it
something dug them all up and this was the only one with its root intact after sitting all day in the heat be honest guys do u think it'll make it
Finished books so far this year, staying on track with at least 1 book a month next book I'll be getting back to medieval again but more fictional
very good though I was not as diligent reading and I'm a month behind on my goal now lol, maybe I can read two short books in June to make up for it
quick but very interesting read that wouldn't let me put it down, read it all in one day
when avoiding the task doesn’t even free you from the obligation of it because youll still be thinking about it fucking constantly
planted some rosemary and at first was worried it wasn't gonna come in but I have some little baby sprouts!!!!!!!!!!
French-Iranian author and illustrator Marjane Satrapi, best known for the book and film “Persopolis”, has died of "sadness", members of her
This one hurt, her work had such a profound effect on my life, thoughts, and politics.
May her memory be a blessing
I took her to my mouse hole then I squeaked it
suddenly becoming the only tech at my job and finally feeling stressed about the job itself and not a coworker
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
#'this is present in the text' is often a good first step #but those second and third ones (naming it; describing its function) are vital (via @elucubrare)
I feel like a lot of people get "All Art is Political" confused with "All Art is made with Political Intentions" which is not the same.
fucker intruder in my home but it has a baby so I don't wanna pull the nest out
