“The maze, it was under a spell. I wasn’t in it, Lizzie was one of the ones trapped inside. Anyway, from what I have gathered these three people caused things to go a little haywire. Those in the maze couldn’t get out, those outside couldn’t get in. Lizzie and I ended up siphoning it.” She explained in further detail. 

Orion was silent for a few moments as they took in what Josie said, blinking slowly before finally speaking. “What?” Her eyebrows raised in concern as the words actually registered, unconsciously sitting up straighter and leaning forwards. “Are you and Lizzie okay? Is everyone okay? I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to help.”

What are you most worried about?

Right now? I'm just worried about my friends being okay, I know a lot happened on Halloween.

Worst nightmare?

Being trapped in a room full of bugs. Seriously. I mean, I'm obviously terrified of bad things happening to my friends, but bugs just freak me out so bad.

Are you a lone wolf, or do you consider yourself part of a pack?

I definitely consider myself part of a pack, even if I do keep to myself most of the time. I was kind of against it at first, but joining the Salvatore School pack was a big help in accepting my werewolf side.

I don't think so, no. I've finally embraced this part of myself, plus I've met some really amazing people at the Salvatore School.

The music store was one of Orion’s favorite places to visit when she took the time to get away from the school, and she’d already been a handful of times despite only recently discovering it. Her focus was entirely on the rows of records in front of her, so it took her a few moments longer than it normally would to notice that someone was approaching. “Oh! Sorry, I can move out of your way if you need me to.”

“Hi” Kai smiled to the stranger “You are a new face I haven’t seen before. I guess you meet new people every day. Were you at the halloween party?”

“Hi.” Orion smiled back politely, unable to stop her eyebrows from furrowing as well as she tried to place why the stranger seemed... familiar, somehow. “Oh no, I was out of town for Halloween. I’m not surprised you haven’t seen me around, though, I don’t leave the school very often.”

🌒️ ― As soon as they were gone, Hope’s attention is undividedly back on Orion. “Don’t do that.” It was a warning, but came out gentle and scolding ― like an upperclassman reprimanding their junior. “Interrupting a vampire like you did… It’s dangerous.” A fight between a vamp and a wolf wasn’t designed to end pretty. The look of concern on her face was plain as day, a contrast to the tight lip of her scowl. Then she frowned. “I don’t think that’s…” a good idea, she almost finished, but she knew she was just trying to push them away. “We should go back to the school,” she offered instead. “I’ll walk with you.”

“I can hold my own.” Defending herself was a knee-jerk response from years of being underestimated, but she attempted to say it nonchalantly this time, hoping it didn’t come off too harsh. “Besides, I would never interrupt just any vampire - I trust you.” Despite only being at the Salvatore School for a short time (compared to the other students), they had complete faith that Hope wouldn’t hurt them. Maybe it was naive, but she would continue to trust the tribrid until given a reason not to. “Are you sure? I know I interrupted you, so the least I can do is buy you dinner or something.”

BACKGROUND (tw violence, accidental murder) - orion’s mother died when she was a kid and her dad left shortly after, leaving her in the care of her maternal grandparents who lived in mystic falls - grew up in mystic falls with no clue about the supernatural (the werewolf curse was from their dad’s side) and attended mystic falls high school - triggered her werewolf curse when an intruder broke into her grandparents house and she hit them in the head with a baseball bat in an attempt to knock them out, but ended up using too much strength and killed them - was recruited to the salvatore school, decided to go in order to protect their grandparents (joined the school the summer between season one and season two of legacies)

🔥 ― The boring response served its purpose. Landon didn’t feel like he was interrupting anything, and as soon as he’d greeted them, everything was back in his court. Which was fine, but he hadn’t prepared anything specific. He was just a mess. “A little bit too much, I think.” It was hard to wrap his head around. “It’s good to see you though.” He’d missed so much when he was gone. His friends the most. 

His answer, although not unexpected, made Orion frown slightly. She moved closer to him so that their arms were just touching, hoping that her presence would be at least a bit comforting. “It’s good to see you too. Really good, actually.” Landon had been the only shred of familiarity her life had left after the incident, and she had worried so much about him during his... absence that she was pretty sure she was getting gray hairs. “Do you want to talk about it? Or do you want to do something ‘normal’?”

“That was a good decision on your part.” Josie said picking at her own food. “It was actually a great party, until the maze held people hostage.” She answered vaguely.

“I’m sorry, the maze what?” Orion had been able to tell that something had happened while she was gone - the faces of most of her friends had been a dead give away - but she hadn’t thought it was that serious. “I need more details.”

🌒️ ― Hope turned to the voice, eying who had interrupted her meal. But it wasn’t Orion’s fault, and this was as much of their business as it was hers. NOLA was both their homes, after all, and the still rational part of the tribrid’s brain respected that. She exhaled, swelled veins beneath her eyes settling down. Her eyes flashed toward to the human again: “Forget our faces and go home.” She watched as they obeyed, and as they rounded the corner, her attention is back on Orion. “I had that under control.” Words she believed… but emotions were high after the maze. 

Watching the human walk away was a relief, but Orion couldn’t help but feel guilty for interrupting Hope’s meal - as terrible as that sounded in their head. She still didn’t know exactly what happened while she was out of town, but the energy at the school (in the entire city, really) had drastically changed. “I know. Are you...” Trailing off slowly, they didn’t even bother finishing the question, awkwardly rocking back and forth on their heels as they tried to think of something to change the subject. “Wanna go get food with me or something?”

🌒️ ― The lights of the city blurred in her eyes as she traversed the alleys with new, enhanced speed. New Orleans was alive with music and sounds ― and prey. Hope spotted a loner and made her approach from the dimly lit street. “Hold still,” she instructed, using compulsion to placate them. “I just need a bite.”

It never took long for New Orleans’ hodgepodge of sounds to overwhelm Orion, and that night was no different. She quickly started to make her way home, taking a few back streets as a shortcut when she spotted a vaguely familiar figure out of the corner of her eye. With a bit of focus, they were able to pick up on a voice, easily recognizing it as Hope. The tribrid’s words had them jogging over, hoping to get there in time to give the human some kind of a chance. “Hope! Hey, what are you doing out here?” She questioned, forcing a smile in an attempt to pretend she had no idea what was about to happen.

“Hey!” Orion smiled as the brunette sat down, turning her attention away from the plate of half-eaten food in front of her. “Oh, no, I actually went out of town for Halloween. What happened at the party?”

🔥 ― Being back wasn’t getting much easier, Landon realized, and even the little things that used to bring him comfort before wasn’t doing much of anything. He plopped down next to his friend, quietly, heavy with thought, like he had done countless times before. Though he would have preferred high school bullying over supernatural destiny and despair any day. “Sup.” 

Orion had picked up on his familiar footsteps before he even came into the room (something she was still trying to get used to), but she didn’t move her head until she felt him sit down next to her. She took a few moments to examine him before replying, trying to get a feel for how he was doing. “Not much. You?” It was a boring response, they knew that, but they wanted to give him the opportunity to guide the conversation.
