It's now been one year since the passing of Kenneth Colley who Star Wars fand fondly remember as Admiral Piett, Kenneth passed away due to complications from COVID-19 and pneumonia.

“Firmus,” Shmi said thoughtfully, as she freed her fingers and returned her attention to her dinner, “I have something to ask of you. And I realize it’s not likely something you can carry out, but—I have to ask.”

“Anything,” he told her immediately, pulling off a piece of roll.

“I want you to promise me…” she paused, tilting her head and staring at the smooth wood of the dining table, “...promise me that as far as possible for you, you will have Anakin’s back. Because Force knows no one else will.”

She looked up at him again, expression vulnerable and there was a beat.

“I know he doesn’t deserve it,” she added quickly. “And it’s not fair to ask of you, but I—-”

“Always,” Piett interjected quietly. “I will do my best, Shmi. For you.”

She ducked her head a little, sniffing suspiciously and patted his hand before returning to her dinner.

He couldn’t tell her what he suspected.

In all their plans, Lord Vader had not once spoken about what would happen should he and his son be successful in killing the Emperor.

It is once again time for my semi irregular reading of this fantastic AU by @musewrangler.
