if you're in Europe PLEASE consider signing the Stop Destroying Games initiative. the deadline is July 31st 2025. i've posted about it before; it aims to create legislation for publishers to stop killing the games you pay for and to provide an end-of-life plan for live-service products. thank you!!!
Give your support !
The government should update consumer law to prohibit publishers from disabling video games (and related game assets / features) they have a
Uk petition for same thing by same people
For those who don't know or got miss info:
This basicly regulates publishers to make a version for the said games to still be able to play, even if the official servers/online has been shut down.
This does not mean that every game has to be single player games, but make life-service (gacha, mmo or similar things) games still be playable.

Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.
A conversation I don’t think yall are ready for yet is that you can love a character sooooo much and relate to them and see yourself in them but at the end of the day they’re still fake and that’s why someone else’s take on them or headcanon about them isn’t a direct message about you or insult to your identity. If your identity is so wrapped up in a character that you can’t distinguish between reality and fiction, then you are the problem. Not some random person online who interprets the character differently than you.
it should be illegal to take a nap and still have a headache when you wake up. like no i shut it off and back on again why are you still here
Go home, Ivan!
Today, we are remembering the invasion of the Soviet army into Czechoslovakia.
56 years ago, in the night between 20. and 21. August 1968, the army of the USSR, along with the armies of other Warsaw Pact countries (except for Romania and Albania who refused to participate - huge thank you, guys) crossed the borders of the country from 3 sides, while airplanes with paratroopers landed near Prague. This being in the night and unexpected, the entire country was occupied by morning, while the government that was blindsided by the invasion asked both the army and civilians to not resist the occupiers. Clashes still occurred, one of the most important being what became known as the Battle for the radio, when civilians bravely tried to stop the occupiers from taking control of the radio broadcast - 17 civilians were killed during the battle.
The occupation began as a reaction to what is known as Prague Spring - a period in 1968 when the new leadership of the Communist Party loosened some laws, especially about censorship and the country started to become more liberal, while trying to built a "socialism with a human face" (an oxymoron, of course, as socialism has no human face). This was not well received in the USSR and although they held meetings with the Czechoslovak government where they were assured of our loyalty to Marxism-Leninism (🤮), they decided to solve things their way - by brute force.
Overall casualties are counted at 137 civilians killed by the occupiers (including children), apart from that there were several suicides (some of them public) and at least 70 000 people emigrated during the first year, with around 100 000 - 200 000 more in the next two decades.
The following period, known as "normalization" included revocation of all previous reforms, increased amount of censorship in all aspects of public life, cancellation of several organizations, people being bullied and blacklisted at work for having incorrect opinions, many of them forced to change professions for being unable to get work in their field. The occupying army left only in 1991, after the Velvet Revolution.
They also kidnapped members of Czechoslovak government, brought them to Moscow and forced them to sign documents about agreeing with the occupation (only František Kriegel refused to sign it). But we also must not forget that some members of the Czechoslovak Communistic Party (may they rot in hell) sent "inviting letters" at the beginning of August to USSR asking for help with the situation (meaning country becoming more liberal) which USSR also used to legitimize the occupation.
So we all know that Tumblr is US-centric. But to what degree? (and can we skew the results of this poll by posting it at a time where they should be asleep?)
Are you from the U.S.? (no nuance here)

Reblog to increase sample size!

no but fr we've all done and said problematic things. y'all need to stop believing everything you see on the internet- not only are people prone to misspeaking, they're prone to being misinterpreted, misconstrued, taken out of context-
and it's very important to me that everyone understands that the same can be done to them.
you do Not want to know what could/would happen if a bad actor got their hands on all the DMs you've ever sent, or even all the things you've ever posted publicly. But you're helping perpetuate that very nightmare whenever you endorse or spread callout posts
it is very easy to manipulate events and screenshots such that they tell a very narrow narrative, and it's easy to do this in a way that guarantees an emotional response in order to make any reader angry. it is very easy to manufacture outrage and anger. it is very difficult to repair a reputation or heal from this kind of breach of trust and common decency
who are you helping? when you call for someone to be ousted from their community, who are you helping? when you ask for someone to be punished for years-old words, who are you helping?
and where would you be if the same magnifying glass was pointed in your direction?
Hi, Tumblr. It’s Tumblr. We’re working on some things that we want to share with you.
AI companies are acquiring content across the internet for a variety of purposes in all sorts of ways. There are currently very few regulations giving individuals control over how their content is used by AI platforms. Proposed regulations around the world, like the European Union’s AI Act, would give individuals more control over whether and how their content is utilized by this emerging technology. We support this right regardless of geographic location, so we’re releasing a toggle to opt out of sharing content from your public blogs with third parties, including AI platforms that use this content for model training. We’re also working with partners to ensure you have as much control as possible regarding what content is used.
Here are the important details:
We already discourage AI crawlers from gathering content from Tumblr and will continue to do so, save for those with which we partner.
We want to represent all of you on Tumblr and ensure that protections are in place for how your content is used. We are committed to making sure our partners respect those decisions.
To opt out of sharing your public blogs’ content with third parties, visit each of your public blogs’ blog settings via the web interface and toggle on the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
For instructions on how to opt out using the latest version of the app, please visit this Help Center doc.
Please note: If you’ve already chosen to discourage search crawling of your blog in your settings, we’ve automatically enabled the “Prevent third-party sharing” option.
If you have concerns, please read through the Help Center doc linked above and contact us via Support if you still have questions.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
pro-AI in the sense of "they taught a bread scanning computer to recognize cancer cells" etc etc
against AI in the sense of "we stole artwork from hundreds to thousands of artists, didn't credit them and didn't financially compensate them"
pro-AI in the sense of "use it for jobs that are near impossible or highly taxing of humans"
against AI in the sense of "use it to replace human creativity in fields built on human creativity"
it appears 2024 will continue the trend of art companies proudly representing themselves with the use of art theft generators [aka, AI generators]
original tweet is now deleted, but wacom used a generated image of a dragon for their 2024 lunar new year promo on twitter.
if you're shopping for art tablets, huion, artisul, and XPPen tablets do just as good a job as their wacom equivalents for less, sometimes even half the price.
when you buy a wacom you're paying almost exclusively for the Brand Name, not any actual quality.
From @ftwzacin on twitter:
There is no escape, really.
the discussion surrounding generative images costing artists their jobs and being trained on stolen work is extremely important and worth having, but the reason i'm so zealous about pointing them out when i see them (and helping people learn to recognize them) is, once again, consumer and media literacy. ai generators have their arguable uses as tools for inspiration, but they are also tools for manipulation.
generative images, unlike a good photoshop, can be produced instantly with absolutely no skill required, which means that everything from online shopping to political propaganda is now inundated with convincing fakes. this could easily be you!
when doing your shopping this season, please pay close attention to products from unfamiliar sources like etsy shops.
does the product show multiple angles? (this is the most important thing for which you should look)
does the product have a lot of superfine details, yet no zoom on them?
do those details actually connect and make sense as shapes?
are things that should be symmetrical, such as chair legs or lamp bases, actually symmetrical?
does the light source make sense? (like this lamp example: why is the base not illuminated if the lamp is lit?)
if purchasing a print from an etsy (etc.) shop, is the style consistent or does the "artist" somehow seem to be an expert in every style and medium? (like, beware of shops like this one-- even without zooming and investigating, the inconsistent style is quite a red flag)
can you find an "original" of the image, like on an artist's social media, or does it seem to only exist in the context of the shop?
do the elements and details of the image easily distinguish themselves, or do parts of them merge weirdly together? (to use an example from the previously linked shop, check out the bottom of the coat on this image and how it fuses with the clothing beneath-- this is only the most immediate and obvious issue in the image)
REVERSE IMAGE SEARCH EVERYTHING.
my inbox is always open if you want help determining if something is fake. love you guys, protect your wallets.
Also, please look out for your older relatives who may not know or be familiar with AI. These Etsy shops depend on people being ignorant to their tricks - it's a little bit like movies with similar names to a Blockbuster coming out around the same time to trick grandma into picking out the wrong DVD.
