The truth about lifting at MAC
So here is the truth about lifting at MACâŚ.
MAC does not have LP whatsoever in their freestanding stores (stores not at a counter in a department store).
Now a counter in Macyâs or Nordstrom may be different but listen on.
Iâve worked at a Nordstrom counter and a MAC store (freestanding) as a freelance artist (pay was good, overall environment and people were shitty, snobby, and only care about making a sale). You are a number to them and nothing more. They have a goal and they wonât let you come in the way of them making it soâŚ.
They use appearance to tell if you will be a big spender ($$), a person who is indecisive/time waster, or a person who just comes in to get free makeup tips and samples and wonât buy shit (and will ask you to do their makeup without trying to buy anything). Having a beat face will definitely aid in your success here or completely deter you. This is solely because they will see that you know a shit ton about makeup and leave you alone OR see that you like makeup and may view you as a big sale coming. Your best bet is to let them know that you are just in looking at things youâve seen on IG and that youâll be fine testing them on your own (be assertive and dominant and they will leave you alone⌠HOPEFULLY)!
They practice a lot of racism/colorism in MAC and love to service the white/asian/arab customers outstandingly while they treat the black and Hispanic customers like charity cases (maybe it was just my old store).
If the store/counter needs a tester to be made you just have to tell your manager that there isnât one there and they will make you check all over before they actually replace it. Then you will damage the item out (or DIF-destroy in field) and attach the receipt to the box of the damaged item (this policy also applies to used makeup that is returned). So this other lifting blog has lied about getting an approval from LP to make a tester!!! They make testers everyday. Do you think LP REALLY gets involved to make testers for some goddamn makeup counter? WHET?!!!
ROB THEM BLIND.
Theyâre a shitty company who has a bunch of drama and fires their employees if they donât make their ridiculously high goals and pressure them into pressuring customers to buy makeup that they may not want or need just to satisfy their numbers at the end of the week. Their makeup is good but they suck as a company.
A friend and I are actually going to MAC this weekend to rack up on them. Fuck MAC and fuck this person who is lying to y'all.
There is nothing to be scared of at MAC. Only managers watch the cameras at the freestanding stores (if they are in the office). Most of the time theyâre on the floor assisting (when theyâre really busy).
Now on to the counters (which may be a bit more complex)âŚ
At Nordstrom or Macyâs they really donât focus on MAC since itâs a leased space and donât take MAC thefts too seriously but you have more people in a space who may report you to gain those theft deterrence incentives (especially at Macyâs where they give them MACY money (up to $1000) to report shoplifters/shoplifting incidents).
One time, I came in for a mid-morning shift and the girl that came in before me said that she had a lady come in super early (like around opening - while she was setting up the counter and cleaning, schematizing the eye shadows and whatnot) and stole the entire block of spiked eyebrow pencils and LP let her get away because they obviously werenât watching the cameras (since they donât care too much about leased counters â this even applies to Sunglass Hut, etc.) She only called LP to cover her ass since it would be noted as a shortage when the counter manager did inventory or whatnot.
I suggest you go to MAC with a partner as you will need someone to keep the SA distracted while you load up. They keep merchandise out or in drawers and even if you canât find what you like just grab whatever you can so you can boost it (EVERYONE IS ON A MAC HIGH OR WHAT NOT). Eyeshadow palettes sell great, fix + makeup spray, lipsticks, liners, and bronzers/blushes/highlighters too.
And Iâd like to add that I have extensive inside knowledge and pictures of my Macyâs camera room and was told that they donât give a shit about anything but Macyâs clothing and shoes. Same for Nordstrom. Canât explain too much as my identity may be compromised.
How lifting has changed me
Two years ago : sitting at home bored and hating the way i look , depressed.
Me now: just did a spa treatment with 300$ worth of lifted skin care , now dancing in my lifted undies and bra dancing to âlolitaâ by lana del rey , wearing a 80$ rose quarts body chain/necklace . Face made up with my lifted palettes. Loving myself and life . Im in bloom and ill keep blooming.
Ok i thought this would get 2 notes tops
âI fuckin did thatâ haul Inspired by @liftingkitytiger
Sports authority is going out of business. And of course the first group of people they let go is loss prevention which means no cameras are monitored! Which means do reckless shit :) I filled up this beautiful Untagged sports bag and filled it w more Untagged shit (I donât have a magnet or hook) and I walked right out the front door.
I want to go back but Iâm scared maybe Iâll hit up another location
(The speaker, sandals, shorts, lace top, & umbrella is from elsewhere)
Total: $729 + the running sneakers which didnât have a price tag but i would estimate to being around $70
Lifting challenges
Just a little idea for some fun pictures in our community.
Do NOT attempt any of these if you are going to be reckless. Remember that SAFETY is your #1 priority when lifting, and not getting caught.
Help add to the list!
Challenges:
-Lift as much nail polish as you can! (Beat eachotherâs scores)
-lift as many markers as you can! (Beat eachotherâs scores)
-Lift as much lipstick as you can! (Beat eachotherâs scores)
-Lift an entire outfit, from the clothes and accessories all the way to the shoes. (We could like vote on the cutest outfits)
-Lift as many books as you can! (Beat eachotherâs scores)
-No bag challenge (Lift by only concealing on your person!)
-Under 10 minute Challenge (Lift as much as you can in 10 minutes.)
-Lift something living. (Plant, fish, etc.)
-Lift ingredients for a fancy meal and show off your finished product!
-Lift a bunch of things and then donate it all!
-No magnet/hook challenge (Lift without emâ!)

Ulta's after 8pm are literally buffets
Collectively, most of my hauls there have been near closing time where there are very few employees on the floor (like 2-3) and the ones that are there are either stocking, cleaning, and generally uninterested in âhelpingâ or customer servicing me so I literally load up each & every time. God bless the power hour at Ulta from 8-9pm! (Iâm going to make this a thing). If you try the power hour at Ulta tag me in your hauls bbâs đđ

SEPHORA Tips
This is going to be a bit like the Abercrombie post I just did, except that I donât know the policy for Sephora so this is mainly just tips and techniques.
Sephora is one of those stores with SA who breath down your neck, give you suspicious looks, and judge you based on your appearance. Or at least thatâs how it is in my location. Now donât get my wrong. They have excellent makeup tips and can match you with your perfect foundation shade, but they can be so annoying when youâre trying to lift. So the first impression you make can really be important.
- Wear neutral colored clothing (white, grey, navy), nothing that will stand out on camera. - Dress in a slightly preppy style (a blouse with a collar will go a long way), people who look respectable and professional are less likely to be suspected - Wear heels! This is helpful because it can deter SA from tailing around behind you because the sound of your heels will make them feel like they know where you are, but they canât see you concealing! - Do your makeup! Pay extra attention to your eyebrows and your lipstick. Wear a brightly colored lipstick. For whatever reason, they trust you more if youâre wearing bright lipstick. Itâs something Iâve noticed myself and heard other lifters talking about.
Now, the SA in Sephora will try to talk to you. Theyâll ask you questions when you come in and see if you need any help. Donât be intimidated at first-they probably donât suspect you as they do this to everyone. However, if they continue to do this throughout your shopping trip without any provocation-GET OUT. They probably suspect you. Also, the code for a suspected shoplifter is to say âso and so needs a basketâ. This is often accompanied by the SA trying to force you to take a shopping basket. At this point, get out! They suspect you.
Now, onto technique. This can be pretty hard in Sephora. Youâre pretty much limited to concealing on the floor, and between the other customers, SA, and cameras (which are monitored!), itâs the technique that creates the thin line between success and prosecution for shoplifting. You have to look natural! I like to bring a friend with me just because it both makes the SA less sis and as part of my exit plan.
My technique for Sephora: -Hang a structured shopping bag from another store one one arm. Have some clothing at the bottom-your coat or something you bought at another store will do. This is where you will be putting your stolen items-the clothing in the bag is to add structure and prevent the bag from making a crinkling noise when you drop something in. -From the same arm, hang a Sephora shopping basket. You can ask an employee for one of these when you come in. -Walk around the store-look natural. This is one of the most important parts. Donât look nervous. Donât take random products. Look at labels, test shades on the back of your hand, do things normal shoppers would do. -When you see a product you like, take two of the same product very discreetly. Drop one into your shopping bag and one into your basket. Since they are on the same level, doing this in one movement will look natural. -For bigger products, still take a duplicate, but walk around the area holding them in a position where looks like you are only holding one until you come to a blind spot. Here, very quickly drop one of the items into your bag and continue carrying around the other, putting it into your basket as usual. -If you canât find blind spots, Iâve found that a good thing to do is when you turn a corner, quickly drop an item into your bag. Or you can do this while turning around, taking something out of your purse, or adjusting your clothing. Any extra movement that distracts from your concealing! -When youâre done, fake a phone call or a text. Tell the friend youâre with that youâre late to meet someone and mention something about ordering the products online when you get home. Say it loudly enough that the SA will hear. Then. Put your basket by the door and head on out.
Hope you all enjoyed these tips, please be careful and enjoy your new products!
Do you have any tips for Michaels crafts?
honestly michaels where i live is a fuckin breeze, the store is goddamn HUGE and SAs are legit fuckin nowhere to be found when im actually trying to ask a question.
depending on where u live copic markers could be locked up. never conceal in jewellery making aisles, fine arts section, or in the framing place bc these places are high traffic areas. try walking down to basket making or in knitting, ive found that these places in my michaels have no cams. you should still scope out your michaels a bit to find blindspots
ive taken two $30 copic marker sets and they didnt have any sort of tag on them but you should still check. also make sure to look like youre actually shopping for shit too lmao but thats a given
also make sure to lift any and all copics to piss off that one guy who hates it when ppl steal copics
have fun!
My how-to guide on lifting from Ulta
So either you want some new high end/high priced makeup from Ulta for personal reasons or you want to start boosting to make nearly $500+ a week as a residual or sole income. OR you may just want some lower end skin care/makeup to practice on/with before heading to the big league⌠Hereâs the best way that I can tell you about lifting from Ulta⌠(In an ask/answer format). *sigh* A goddamn disclaimer: I donât know anything about their security or LP situation, but I do know that they have cameras at the cash registers and some stores have earpieces for the employees to communicate with one another (like some Sephoras do). Take this info with a grain of salt. I am not responsible if you get caught using my advice because it works for me (just saying). ASK: Should I go to an Ulta near me or far away? The Ulta far away would be your best bet, and this is just in case you may want to legitimately buy from one of your home based stores in the future⌠ASK: What time should I go to Ulta? Go near closing time when the employees are itching to go home and could care less about customer servicing you⌠Especially on a Friday or Saturday night and theyâre so damn ready to go home so they can get ready to go out. Theyâre so busy talking to each other about what theyâre planning to wear to the club rather than helping you⌠DISCLAIMER, yet again⌠I really donât know shit about their LP but there are some posts floating around in this community saying that they have either a district/regional LP associate that comes in after a big loss or for a periodic store visit. Or they have a security guard that walks through the stores (probably in high crime areas)⌠ASK: How long is too long to be in Ulta without getting sussed? Depends. I just know that I get in and out in less than 25 minutes. After that you better be buying something to act as a decoy. The first five minutes are crucial because youâre rarely noticed then so you should load up during that time. I usually start in the high end makeup section and then work my way to the high end skin care. Then Iâll graze the lower end skincare/makeup isle (NYX, Revlon, Olay, etc.) to see if I want anything over there. If not Iâll start heading to the exit.nAfter Around 15 minutes you should start wrapping up your haul because by then someone will have noticed that youâre there and will probably ask you if you need help. ASK: What if they ask me if I need help? Ask them for a product that you know they donât have in stock (Becca - Champagne Pop highlighter is a good one or the Foreo mini - those things are either getting lifted or sold like crazy). Then theyâll have nothing to do except tell you the productâs out of stock. Then you should thank them for looking or telling you and then then casually walk out of the store praying that you didnât miss a sensor and beep. ASK: Any general tips for Ulta? Donât be too fast trying to load up and miss a sensor or two because itâll fuck you in the end⌠ANDâŚ. be polite to the associates. As long as theyâre nice and polite to you, give them that in return. đ Feel free to reblog with any tips that I mayâve forgotten.
Having worked for that shit company for a good 6 months Iâll say this & this should be true for each store
LP, general/regional management and store management are the only ones allowed to stop you. LP, RM, GM only come to the store during thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, New Years and summer.
There are normally three managers in the store at all times they wear all black or black and white and have a headset on them. Head cashiers are the only other people who wear headsets.
When you go in youâll normally see a monitor behind where the cashiers stand they are watching fragrance, they have no way to change that view it stays on fragrance.
Management is usually behind the registers helping or in the back taking conference calls, doing interviews, watching cameras or doing payroll.
In the whole time I worked there I was either behind the register or doing go backs. The only ppl who work there that really have free range to move around are salon, whoever is on register for salon, MUAâs or ppl doing facials. You will occasionally see someone who does freelance makeup for a company but they never go too far away from where they need to be.
If youâve ever been in Ulta and heard a binging/pinging noise stay calm
1 bing noise means - I need another cashier up here the line is getting long 2 bing noises means - I need a manager now before you panic when you hear 2 all that means is I need an override or I need more money in my register.
They get new shipments in every Monday, so if you want to get in and get out go Monday morning. Why? A. We had to be there no later than 5 am to get all the stuff off the truck unbox it, stock it and clean up. We normally would be done around 9 am B. Thereâs usually still small boxes of stuff still out with merch in them (naked palettes etc) C. SAâs are so tired and delirious by 9am and just want to gtfo they wonât even notice you.
Youâre biggest concern is Johnny Boy Scouts customers who snitch if they see you concealing.
As long as you make it out of the store, to your car and off the property enjoy your liberated stuff.
Having been caught at Ulta, I have to add that managers who catch on to people lifting will just call the police.
