Introduction post:

Hello! I'm Myrtle (not my real name). I joined Tumblr for a specific fandom, but it turns out this is a pretty great platform, so I decided to stick around.

Fandoms:

-Yellowjackets (I started watching it because I heard there were lesbians. I was not prepared for the horrors.)

-Project Hail Mary (I didn't know why this movie had such a large fandom until I watched it. "The possibilities are endless" as a sciency person would say.)

-I Am Not Okay With This (This show is so important to me. The second season would've cured me of everything, I think.)

-The School for Good and Evil (Everyone is so queer coded. I ascend every time I reread the books, but I don't love the movie.)

-Bungou Stray Dogs [Stupidest show ever (affectionate)]

-Stranger Things (I don't support the Duffers, it's just that the show could have been so good if certain plotlines were addressed.)

-Starkid (I've seen the Hatchetfield trilogy and I'm about to watch Nightmare Time. I don't watch stuff in the right order, unfortunately.)

-The Fear Street Trilogy (Horror lesbians are my favorite thing in the world)

-The Outsiders (This is an old obsession of mine I don't know if I'll ever get over)

-A bunch more stuff I'm forgetting about.

-Lottie Mathews (She's such a silly little manipulator. Things always go her way and she deserves it.)

-Shauna Shipman (She's my wife. She's my ravishing little screw up. She's quite problematic, but I love her nonetheless.)

-Mike Wheeler (I prefer not to talk about him.)

Every day I'm angry about how Yellowjackets squandered Simone Abara's potential. They're giving Jeff Sadecki complex characterization and Simone showed up for two seconds last season just to talk to Van. Her beloved politician wife killed their dog and put his head on a basement crawlspace altar. She was never real to Tai, she was all Tai ever wanted, she stayed for years without hearing a word of what happened in the woods, she knew about Van, she left the second she thought their son was in danger. She was married to the mask of a woman desperately pretending it was her real face. She should be the main character of twelve million complicated couple horror movies and, I repeat, she showed up for two seconds last season. Racism kills good storytelling. ENOUGH.

I need a historical lottielee au where laura lee is a devout nun and lottie is forced to enter the convent because no one knows how to help her with schizophrenia, and the way they dealt with it in the past is by putting women into a religious institution.

Laura lee is the only one who makes an effort to get to know Lottie who really does not want to be there, while Lottie finds something to hold onto to make her life inside the convent more bearable.

I have a headcanon about Shauna’s mom that I’ve been thinking about. We know Shauna’s mother is a stay at home mom, despite Shauna’s self reliance and obvious loneliness in her own home.

I thought at first that Shauna’s mother was a lot like her as a mom, but then I thought what if she was the opposite?

What if instead of being emotionally unavailable, she was too open with Shauna? What if she relied on Shauna for emotional support and used her to vent about how much she hated her life?

What if she told Shauna every detail of the divorce, or came home late and gave her every detail about her new sex life? What if she was someone prone to starting fights and Shauna had to try and smooth them over? It explains why Shauna would be so sensitive to Jackie’s feelings in their friendship, or where she learned to comfort others from.

Unlike Callie, who saw her mom as a stranger who she wants to know more about, Shauna wants to know less about hers, because she knows too much about her mother.

I definitely like the idea her mother was a teen mom as well, like the parallels would be crazy.

is this a safe place to admit that agatha and sophie (from the school for good and evil series) being revealed as sisters is one of the worst plot twists i’ve ever encountered?? it’s been years but that literally put me in a reading slump and continues to haunt me. i was (am) so confused about why the author, who is a GAY MAN, would throw away all of their incredibly sapphic buildup like that (they kissed on the lips and then planned to spend the rest of their lives together). did he somehow miss their obviously romantic undertones? was there pressure from the publishing side of things to straightify the girls? i just wanna know what happened
