So, I'm someone who doesn't draw outside mandatory art modules (the last one was 3 years ago).
2 weeks ago, I watched 魔道祖师 (MDZS).
Since then I've been so obsessed with the show. I even completed the translated book in 3 days.
One day, I was watching edits and I had the sudden urge to screenshot a scene , and even possibly try to sketch it :
It's the one right at the top.
Today, after I completed my assignments, I looked through my MDZS ss album again and saw one of Wei Ying. I had previously tried to sketch it out, but gave up eventually because I knew i wasn't good at art and wasn't going to draw it well. But somehow, SOMEHOW, I decided to complete it . I hate doing hair in sketching. It didnt turn out too bad eh? (Beside the first Lan Zhan sketch on top)
I know, the eyes are way off, and I have not managed to capture the ENERGY and LIVELINESS of Wei Ying... but.. I'm glad I gave it a shot. I will do better. It's a huge step from drawing stickmen 😂
Lastly, and the one I just completed ....
Initially, I only planned to sketch Lan Zhan. I was pretty satisfied after I did. BUT, i HAD to stumble upon 2 screenshots, that appeared like parallels :
My mind just went : ooOOH wHAt iF tHEy wERe fAcInG eAcH oThER?
Thus, I sketched Wei Ying. I was pretty scared to start drawing. But i'm glad I did.
What I'm trying to say is... life is too short for "i'll do it later"s or "i'll learn it someday"s. If you wanna do somethiny, start now. Also, I'm really glad that stumbling upon MDZS made me start drawing. I hope I can keep it up!
