hm so psa bc i didn’t know this, it’s not common knowledge, and flu season is around:
apparently you aren’t supposed to take dextromethorphan (a common cough suppressant. it’s in stuff like cough syrup, mucinex dm, tylenol severe cold) with sertraline (aka zoloft, the antidepressant) bc it has the risk of causing Serotonin Syndrome, which is not as fun as the name suggests. i’m not a doctor but like, avoid drug interactions bc they can be serious.
remember to read labels guys aaa
Not just sertraline, any SSRI or SNRI. Serotonin syndrome can kill you. When I was younger and on a lot of medication, a dose of cough medicine landed me in the ER. Always check potential interactions here before taking anything with antidepressants, even if it’s over-the-counter.
Also don’t be afraid to walk into a pharmacy (or ring one) and say “I’m on X and I need cough medicine, what can you do for me”, especially if you’re on multiple medications.!! The pharmacists have their own system for looking up drug interactions and they can also help you work out how to minimise the interactions. For me that meant skipping a day of a medication that I generally didn’t get much effect from anyway. It was definitely worth it and that’s not something I could confidently say is ok from my own research.

Can anyone help me decide if I'd need a wheelchair? I get pain when walking and standing for more than couple minutes. I have furniture chairs but I need a chair in so many activities I'm basically dragging one all around the house and that contributes to my fatigue. I think wheelchair would be beneficial to me for these reasons:
No need to carry around chair(s), can just wheel on and move easily
Obviously helps with standing
More ergonomic
Has a backrest to help with posture
Can carry stuff on my lap
Saves my hips from subluxing
Sounds like you’ve thought a lot about how it would help. Are there any negatives? If you feel like one would help you, I think you should get one. Try talking to your doctor to see if you can get a prescription. That might get your insurance company to help pay.
I live in a country with a national insurance so that's not a problem. The negatives I've thought are that my current apartment isn't really that accessible and I'm scared I won't actually need it. But I can try it out before deciding completely so I think it would be fine.
Also I've tried different mobility aids before but they aren't that great at like... Leaving my hands free so it's pretty difficult to wash dishes and stuff. I can get help but I'd like to be more independent.
One thing I found with wheelchairs is that they can be really tiring to move around especially in not very accessible areas. Plus painful to go a long way and it can be really hard to do dishes and chores from the chair unless all your surfaces are low down and accessible at home. My shoulders always hurt fast doing dishes from a wheelchair.
I like rollator walkers (I set my profile pic after I got my first one and was amazed with it) - if you haven’t tried them it could be worth a shot. You can kick yourself around while sitting on them for hands free for dishes and things. The basket is handy for holding all your meds and snacks and whatever else. Plus they’re taller - I find that helps with it being useful for dishes and stuff. And lighter and smaller, so they’re easier to shift around with you than a standard chair and a wheelchair.
It depends on your personal needs but that’s just some things I’ve found that might be important.
me, looking back on it all:
I’m pretty sure a baby sky bison would make the best pet ever!
this was cute until i realized the fish is probably trying to not get eaten
A fish trying not to get eaten wouldn’t slow down when the “predator” slows down. It also wouldn’t constantly swim in a circle near the edge of the tank; It’d try hiding. Also a fish in a tank in a a public place that is constantly filled with people is not likely to see people as predators.
Animals, I think people tend to forget, also enjoy playing.
Alternative take: the fish wanted to eat the child
Apparently she’s not a fan of breaks 🥺❤️

Mental Crop Rotation
When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.
To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”
So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.
Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.
: A crucial part of crop rotation is that the field is let fallow sometimes. You plant what’s called a “cover crop”, which is something you don’t expect to harvest– it’s there for its roots to hold the soil in place, and often it’ll be what’s called a nitrogen-fixer, i.e. a plant that can pull nitrogen out of the air and fix it into the soil with its roots (but sometimes it won’t, sometimes it’s really just there to shelter the soil surface), and then you’ll till in that cover crop, or let the frost kill it and the stalks lie as mulch, and then you’ll rotate productive crops back into that field the next season.
It’s important, though, to understand that during the fallow period, no nutrients are removed from that ground, and nothing is expected of it. Whatever the land grows then, it keeps, and it gets tilled back in or decomposes in place, to return its energy to the earth.
We’re not allowed, in our current society, to just let our minds be fallow for a bit, to produce nothing for export, to make nothing that can be sold. But it’s part of good land stewardship, to give every field time when it doesn’t need to give you anything back.
So yes, grow and produce different things from time to time, rotate them around your mind and exercise different mental muscles, take different things from your creative processes, yes– but also, give yourself a fallow spell now and again, and let the field of your mind grow things for itself to keep, to break down and save for later.
Positive mental health AND agriculture??!?

My life has been so much better ever since I traded my impostor syndrome to brilliant conman -syndrome. Do I deserve anything in life? Fuck no! Will I grasp it anyway? Fuck yes!
My art has never been worth shit, but watch me bullshit my way into art school! I am a horrid goblin, but watch me make these people like me! Am I qualified to do this task? Well I sure have the certificates that say that I am! And how did I get those? Who knows! Not me! I am so good at cheating, I don’t have to break a single rule to do it!
I am brilliant, fast, and absolutely drunk with power!
Finally a concise, accurate description of what I’ve been doing the past ten years
i made one
For those that need to hear it:
It’s only manipulation when it’s intentional/premeditated. Otherwise it’s just your words having an influence on someone, i.e. The Concept Of Human Interaction.
Sometimes that influence is good, sometimes bad. But never malicious.
Being conscious of whether your words have a positive or negative impact is a noble endeavor, but you’ll never be a piece of shit unless you’re trying to.
Oh thank god
You have no idea how happy this made me
i wish someone had told me at 13 that depriving yourself of food and sleep is very much a form of self harm
hey kids i know sometimes things are very rough, and feeling like ur in control of ur suffering can be a coping mechanism for a while, but pls eat and sleep, and try to be gentle to yourself if you can
Guys I found the only good thing on Facebook.
Update:
I’ve discovered the ultimate life form
Very good post OP
Just dreamt of a world where a celeb wheelchair user rolls on the red carpet, poses for photos in their chair but is also able to stand and pose for a few seconds, maybe stand/walk for a good minute, and then get back into their chair and nobody calls them a faker or asks invasive questions.
They are allowed to just enjoy their evening and not placed into a position where they have to defend themselves and have to consistently inform people about how some wheelchair users are able to walk.
