Okay, so I wanted to share some resources. I am not a wealthy man, but I like having nice things for my dog. I get a lot of stuff off of craigslist and similar local yard sale/thrift stores… But I also have a thing for ordering online because online stuff is cheaper.Â
Chewy: I love Chewy for all kinds of cheap pet stuff and they’re my go-to place for dog food if I don’t feel like buying local. I know they’re pretty popular already, but are worth mentioning.
Pet Flow: Another great place, similar to Chewy, but they ALSO often have some good Doorbuster deals.
Amazon Warehouse: Amazon is a pretty great place to get some very inexpensive things in general (Have you looked at their books section? Some great dog books for only a couple of bucks. Also check out Kindle Unlimited). Anyway, Amazon Warehouse is full of “used” goods that were returned. I just bought some treats that were completely unopened and half the price they normally are as well as a dog toy that looked completely untouched). Also, when you order from Amazon, set up Amazon Smiles and they donate a portion of the sales to a charity of your choice. Â
Allivet: Discount pet pharmacy. very useful for flea/tick/heartworm meds. They require a prescription from your vet for certain medications, but they are a little cheaper than ordering from the office. Bravecto, for instance, I think is $50/60 at the vet, and is only $37 here.Â
Ryans Pet Supplies: My favourite place for dog toys. Large Kongs are only $7, give or take, and they have many other good brands.
Friends of Animals Spay/Neuter certificate. While I don’t particularly support the extreme views of the organization, they have a fantastically low cost certificate program that my family has used several times over the years.Â
