In the far North of America, this tiny hunter, a dromaeosaur, has managed to survive three months of near-total darkness. And now, at last, spring has come. She has a coat of feathers, for she’s able to generate heat in her body, and needs to retain all she can. A challenge for all dinosaurs in these cold latitudes.

Today is Otherkin Day. Shout out to everyone noticing Otherkin for one day, but personally, I feel we should always watch the otherkin

This six-foot-long dinosaur, a troodontid, is one of the smaller members of the theropod group. Its huge eyes give it acute sight, even in this smoky gloom. And for its size, its brain is one of the largest on the planet. It is the most intelligent, adaptable, and successful hunter in the Arctic.

Also my attempt at the idea of troodontids with facial discs, based on that both they and modern owls have asymmetrically placed ears, and that both that and a facial disc of feathers are adaptations to improve the ability to detect prey by sound. And as is the case with owls, about half of the apparent size of each raptor here is feather fluff. The parent’s head is only barely wider than from one outer corner of an eye to the other.

Not *another* alterhuman survey!?...

The recent success of Othercon has inspired me to maybe make my own panel or presentation either next year, or for affiliated events in the mean time. I picked the topic that has been most interesting to me lately, sexuality and how it relates to alterhumanity. So for this I’ve made a survey, this is my first ever survey so forgive me if it’s a little amateurish. I have had a lot of help with wording the questions and what to ask though from various discord servers, and I’m grateful af for that.

Questions are a little NSFW, that should go without saying really but just in case you follow the link and are somehow surprised. Here’s your warning. :P

Every question is optional and it’s not possible to see eachother’s responses to save any embarrassment. I’ll be leaving this survey up for a long time, you can edit responses if things change. There is plenty of material out there about other aspects of alterhuman identity, such as the link with gender. But very little about the birds and the bees, the most comprehensive questionnaire I’ve found is the AHWW survey from 1995! If there is other, more recent research then do let me know, so I can compare the stats. I want to see how trends and norms have changed, if at all. I’ll hopefully have enough material by the end of this to use on the subsequent panel.
