My favorite scenes in the LotR books are the ones where Legolas has vital information and just decides it's not important to share.
Like when Gandalf spent literal PAGES trying to figure out why the vibes were off in Moria and Legolas chimes in with just "it's a balrog :) that shit's evil :) we're so fucked :)" like what do you MEAN you knew already and just didn't tell him??
Or at the beginning of Two Towers when Aragorn thinks there's something nearby so he puts his ear to the ground to listen, and then like 10 minutes later is like "hmmm i hear horses" and Legolas is just like "mm yep. there are 105 blond bitches with spears" like you just let your friend put his face in the dirt and you can SEE them??
Legolas please gain a sense of urgency
It's because legolas hasn't spent enough time with non-elves to remember that they don't know what he knows.
gandalf is scratching his head in moria, and legolas is thinking "oh man, the wizard noticed something off *besides* the obvious balrog that we all are aware of??"
"I wonder what aragorn is listening for? must be hard to hear, what with all of the horses. How many horses are there, actually? 1... 2... 3..."
"What do your elvish eyes see?" is Aragorn saying, as politely as possible, "Because the REST OF US are at a significant disadvantage, Prince Dipshit."

dawg i literally dont want the world to see me cuz i dont honestly think they'd understand
love that i can sob freely around animals and they won’t ask me what’s wrong they’ll just be there
Actually I love that Tolkien decided to include Tom Bombadil. What an amazingly unhinged decision. Literally 5 minutes out of the Shire Merry & Pippin almost get eaten by a sentient evil willow tree but there's just Some Guy who's In Charge of the trees and tells it to let them out. He's older than elves and the river is his wife. Also he's immune to the ring, the thing that the preceding 120 pages and following 800 pages are entirely about and he literally never shows up again. Everyone's like "oh he's God" and Tolkien was like NO he's not God he's literally just a Guy and I don't know what he's doing there either he just wants to be. Incredible. No notes.
c’mon everybody!!! *runs off excitedly and no one follows me*
From "Shades of the Heart" post on Facebook, explaining these two photos:
The morning seemed ordinary—until the store doors opened. Inside, sprawled on the floor, was a bear cub, sound asleep with a belly full of honey. Broken jars lay scattered around, the air thick with sweetness.
Overnight, the little intruder had broken in, feasted until it couldn’t move, then collapsed into what many would later call a “honey coma.” All the while, its mother waited patiently outside, pacing the treeline.
Wildlife officers eventually arrived, gently waking the cub and guiding it back to the woods, where its mother welcomed it home. The sight of the chubby cub, sticky and drowsy, quickly spread online, sparking laughter and jokes around the world.
For the store owner, the loss was worth the memory: “That’s the most honey I’ve sold in months,” he laughed.
But the real story? Maybe it’s not just about a cub’s midnight feast, but about the way wild and human worlds sometimes collide in the most unexpected—and unforgettable—ways.
