sometimes i think about inazuma eleven go's third season and all the missed potential🥺
Ideas for either international and/or intergalactic tournament:
- there's already an actual starting-from-scratch player from season 1, kageyama hikaru, and he was a quick learner and could've helped break down the basics for any of the new characters/members of the national team.
-Hikaru and the coach being his long lost uncle could've been a whole thing if they ADDRESSED IT!
-I like the idea of a callback of kariya' favor for kirino during chrono stone and this time kirino being the one sopporting/hyping up kariya going to the international and/or intergalactic tournament.
-maybe a bit of zanarkorou and nishiki interaction. since nishiki had helped zanark when his keshin was in chains before.
- more chain shoots and or hissatsus that need more than one player. Maybe minaho and matatagi bird thing, maybe matatagi, sakura and kariya double sidedness bonding. We got introduced to too many characters at once OF THE MAIN TEAM and then we got alot of episodic focus of one character at a time. The new power mechanic, soul, is also individualistic. Most of them didn't feel like they became actual friends. The vibes and chemistries are off. Give me anythinggg
-we've seen the new characters are from different schools that the main team had played against (before the new characters joined) and at least we know a bit about the characters from those teams, it would've been nice if at least one of the new characters had opinions on their teams or have interacted or bonded with them in any way.
ideas for either international or intergalactic tournament separately under cut:
*If it had just stayed as an international tournament arc season:
-first of all get way more characters included. Maybe even have tryouts with all those characters who never tried soccer included, divided equally between 2 teams to go against each other to show off their skills. And then let us watch the experienced players navigate playing with those who have no idea what they're doing on their team, how can they deal with it to try to win. Canon already showed shindou being mad but when increasing characters i can see yukimura too. Since we had seen him practice alone because his team considered him too serious and intense
-Nishiki and people he played with in italy! Someoka! maybe fideo cameo too!
-someoka, nishiki and yukimura moments (can talk about fubuki shirou or he can also join in!)
-china maybe visiting a historical site related to chrono stone (something for shinsuke and or taiyou)
-or korea! burn and/or gazelle again !kariyas uncles!
- get shidou a friend on the team of another country with interest in classical music
-have new characters get interested to go to a country to do something related to their non soccer interests : manabi ->england and sherlock holmes (and since england gets brought up maybe tenma comments on chrono stone shenanigans and meeting king arthur and the other new characters get so confused
-if france is brought up then include kirino
-Maybe revisit hakuryuu and yukimura's abandonment issues. give them a chance to be on the team instead of actual space removing the possibility of switching the players on the team. and if they do get on the team they would push past their limit afraid of not being good enough and taken out from the team and could get themselves injured, or keep the ball to themselves and ruin the teamwork (maybe clashing with hikaru's people pleasing, maybe clashing with kariya abandonment issues.) thinking something like og s2 kazemaru or s3 midorikawa
-wouldve been repetitive but we could have had taiyous relapse episode just like ichinose from og.
- Brazilian team recognizing kariya's dad/mentor hiroto and being fans of him and excited to talk about him
-Kariya and his hyped up relatives vs kageyama hikaru and his bad association relative
-I feel .... back during the first generation, on its own it was iffy that whole part of the brazil team needing to be saved from a dictator-like character by outsiders (main characters from the japanese team), so it'd be cool and full circle to have in this generation, the brilliant team saving the japanese team from something. we can still stay in the japanese team's pov because they're the main characters and all, and then the brazillian team shows up to save the day!
-Thinking maybe since the plot of the first go season being the rise of popularity of soccer in japan leading to a mess of soccer being so strict and important in japanese schools. leading to an organization dividing scores equally among schools. its still an issue for the national team as it made many people in power be extra controlling and cruel of the japanese team. (wild to have high expectations while also having the players be used to playing in national tournaments where the score is already set but okay) maybe corruption is involved, maybe putting the team through dangerous training to get them stonger, or forcing them to over-do it. And then the Brazilian team gets records as evidence or smth.
- kirino points out that if he and kariya can get along then surely so can shindou and ibuki
-America! Ichinose/aki and tenma moments! maybe also bring up that weird 'friendly' america vs japan match situation that went down in chrono stone
-we really needed more nishiki and midori and any kind of shindou/akane closure
-if i remember right, aoi was excited when she brought up that the international soccer tournament will finally include girls, but wasn't interested in playing herself, id like to think shed get the idea of one of the managers getting to play and would hype them up and cheer them on. i'm thinking midori. even cooler with her being bothered about aoi getting the more main character role in chrono stone before.
-the animal souls as the new power system could've have been cool by relying on research on animals from different regions and how they move and interact and possible symbolism. BUT it is very risky as it can get racist. they would've had to be very careful.
And even if we keep it as an alien arc:
-Its the 2nd alien arc! Kariya and his fake alien parents!
-Some hikaru and kariya bonding about guard up struggle with friendship during that match with the water planet ( i admit i think kariya's character arc is so similar that he can just replace matatagi but i dont mind him still being there i guess)
- more info on fake tsurugi and other characters noticing things are off about tsurugi BECAUSE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW EACH OTHER , THEY'RE FRIENDS AND THIS SEASON DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THEYRE FRIENDS'
- we've had an international tournament before and while it wasn't perfect, there were cultural differences along with characters from different countries also having their own thing. but in galaxy, The way they showed the characters from each whole planet having specific traits felt generic and lazy. Needs some pointing out that maybe that alien team won an international tournament of their own planet first and how they feel about it, some hints of political/geographical/cultural differences/conflicts and lore about some of the planets would've been nice.
-main themes of friendship and being your authentic self (matatagi's whole thing- tenma remembering 'his soccer') and yet minori stayed possessed the whole time. the one time she wasn't she got rightfully angry and ready to throw hands. they didn't even tell her they took her to space! Aoi was trying hard to be her friend before the reveal and she should've advocated for her include her and make friends.
-with how the plot was gearing towards darkness and tenmas possible depression and forgetting how to love playing soccer i believe midori- who saw tenma's passion of soccer and believed in him from day one- should've been included.
-again the thing with animal souls as a power system... doesn't work very well in the alien season. and the thing about canon galaxy is that we got introduced to too many new characters right off the bat. and THEN new alien characters. and the thing is i feel if what the animal soul power system needed is to also learn about the alien animals and how they work and possible symbolisms in the alien's culture. as a whole it would've been too much new information but when looking at the animal souls power system specifically, we needed more lore. which is hard because they introduced too much the give us info on.
Here’s some water color paintings I’ve been doing, the first image is and improvement over the span of 6 months and the second is a bit bigger piece of Sakura with heavy light source.🐇🐾🎀
i noticed, kind of randomly, that sakura's casual outfit has a very similar neckline and general upper-body shape as her rythmic gymnastics leotard, and i think that's really cool.
the darker, v-shaped pink stripe creates a triangular neckline without there actually being one and its tip marks the opening into the lighter pink part. the way the cardigan is drawn mirrors this shape, by having it be buttoned up with a single button in the middle and then having the flaps of it open at the bottom, making a visual parallel to her leotard skirt. the seams along the flaps, particularly at the neckline make the similarity to the overall shape even more pronounced.
the cardigan is not buttoned up at the same height as the point of connection between the patterns on the leotard, but that's purposeful. lowering that center gives her a more relaxed appearance and i think so does the round neckline of her undershirt. the cardigan sleeves have a cozy feel to them, seeing as they're not skin-tight, but they're still of a very practical length and width as to not infringe on her movements.
i really enjoy how the intentional similarities between the two outfits further drive home the idea of how much of sakura's identity is tied to rythmic gymnastics. even when not training, dressed in her every day clothes their design creates the feeling that she's still 'on the job'. and with the immesurably high expectations her parents have of her, it makes sense that she never stops being the famous rythmic gymnast, even at home.
lastly a little about the colors. i think it's interesting how the blues in her casual outfit are more muted compared to the bright teal blue in her leotard. her shoes being black and with a small heel have this elegant, proper feel to them... and yeah that's it for now, i got tired.
39yo chairwoman Gouenji that i commissioned from kari / @fraybury hehehehehehehe
kari's commissions are still open btw!!!
there's an entire lore going on in here but im going to share that on my ennatsugou fankid post. all you have to know for now is that gouenji cracked the egg at age 24 a wee bit after galaxy when she had the time for self-reflection. she's supposed to not be the chairperson here anymore in the lore but the mere suggestion of office lady gouenji made me hold my head so tightly (everybody say thank you for the suggestion, kari). need that so bad. anyway.
she also did not change her name shuuya since i headcanon that her name came from her mother and she treats it as one of the precious gifts she has left of her. so yes, still gouenji shuuya. and since i like my world building as disappointing as reality, the professional league wouldn't be accepting of gender diversity for their generation until like 10 years passed so she wouldn't be able to go back in the league anyways. neither will she be accepted in the women's soccer league (transphobia). so she decided to continue with being the chairperson.
[ID: an interpretation of what gouenji shuuya would look like as a trans woman in victory road if she continued being chairperson. her hair is chin length and slicked back. she sits on a blue office chair with a really stressed expression, looking at the viewers. one of her hand holds her head. she's wearing a maroon vest and a mid leg length skirt with a slit on the side. over her shoulders is a maroon suit, kind of worn like a cape. she wears the necklace yuuka gave her in canon. she's also wearing maroon office shoes. /END ID]
Doodle designs of Haizaki and Hiroto as Adults... RIP handwriting it's so poopoo
Forgot to mention that Hiroto's lip piercing was inspired by his beta design bc allegedly he's supposed to have one so I made him have one in his adult vers
you may want to read my Themes of Self-Advocacy in VicRo post before reading this one (this is not my part 2 but it may be related)
a story about self-advocacy without giving any of the supporting characters any agency does make it feel like the mc stole it from everyone tbh. was it not possible to let the mc have the agency that he deserves without taking it from others...
i mean. if anything, im glad that the person taking the other characters' agency is a disabled mc since disabled characters are only portrayed being taken from (like how everyone only has the choice to follow unmei only without having any kind of self-reflection and the like or resistance to it, this was what people pretended to be something that tenma did without realizing what the last match against dragonlink meant; that match is in fact about following the system and its teachings vs fighting with the strength of each other and what you love without needing to replicate the system much like senguuji's personal life).
as a person who likes complex mcs and subversion of expectations, i like the concept of a disabled mc as the only person with agency in a story (after starting with his own agency being taken from him by his disability). but as a liker of stories with multiple three dimensional characters... it falls flat.
and the way the story at the earlier chapters hinted at the other characters being a major participant of it only for them to do nothing made me feel like the writers were indecisive. they don't know what this story is supposed to be. they don't have an idea where they can take this. or that it's the last decision they made instead of the first.
it makes it hard to like if you're someone with strong fundamentals on literary studies. also aside from the obvious bigotry all over the place.
if it leaves the rest of the characters nothing to do... there's just nowhere to look at this story without getting tired of it. i guess hype moments are good distractions though. and it does work on their benefit that this was delayed for almost a decade because it made the fans want to buy it despite what it will be. then there's also the story-writing disappointment that is ares so the expectations are lower than the ground. people would be easily impressed.

The "creepy bestie curse" - an analysis of the friendship between Handa and Kageno
At the end of last year, I made an essay about Handa's friendships with everyone from Raimon, but there is a friendship that caught my interest in particular because of their funny interactions, opposite personalities, and subtle growth that I'll analyze today. These two probably spent a lot of time together due to shared experiences (like the hospitalization during the Aliea Academy arc), but even before that they were often seen next to each other, either training or having their scares running gag.
I'll mostly analyze this friendship in chronological order, but before starting that, let's take a look at their dub names. Jim Wraith is pretty self-explanatory for the ghost boy, but why is Handa's dub name Steve Grim when he's known to be a very average guy? It's probably because he ends up being the most frequent victim of Kageno's running gag, but instead of pushing him away because of this, he still sees him as a friend. It's interesting that even though they are opposites in personality (Handa is too normal and Kageno is very strange), both of their dub surnames have connotations with the underworld.
And now, I'll analyze some key moments from the anime.
This weird friendship started right from the first episode, where their first interaction involves Handa getting startled by Kageno's sudden appearance behind his back, followed by Handa quickly apologizing for not noticing him. From then on, this ends up being a routine for them.
A variation of this running gag is seen in episode 4, where Handa points out the irony that Kageno, of all people, called Occult creepy. Who else would have pointed it out?
However, between these two scenes, there's another important moment for their friendship. After Someoka tackles Kageno to the ground to steal the ball from him, Handa calls him out on the foul play, showing his morals and subtle acceptance of the weirder teammates.
Another moment involving this running gag happens all the way in episode 24 (I skipped the scene from episode 11 since almost the whole team was startled by Kageno, not just Handa). As you can see here, he brushes off the scare with a smile, having accepted these by this point.
However, their interactions don't only involve scares and flinching.
They are sometimes seen training together, with a key element in the series being the way soccer brings people together. And like I showed in my previous essay, Handa is comfortable enough with everyone from the team, even the walking jumpscarer.
Furthermore, in episode 14 and the Reloaded credits, they are seated next to each other in Rairaiken. This might suggest that even before season 2 brought them in the same space, they were getting along fairly well, jumpscares aside.
Let's move on to season 2 now. They were among the 5 people that Gemini Storm sent to the hospital and were appointed in the same room. By this point, Handa already accepted the "creepy bestie curse" and it looks like the shared experience only brought them closer. Since Max is Kageno's other best friend, it's possible these three started a trio.
Headcanon time: check out this siblings headcanon post for more details regarding Kageno's older sister: https://www.tumblr.com/ilincasiatat/798579418983497728/the-sibling-headcanon-about-4-raimon-members. My theory is that this shared experience brought them closer because they got the chance to open up about each other (like how Handa wants to stand out more and Kageno wants to be more visible and not live in his sister's shadow), realizing they have more in common than they thought.
They were also grouped together in season 3 as the few members who didn't get selected for Inazuma Japan and it's safe to assume they continued their close friendship, as well as trio with Max.
Headcanon time: after they were both didcharged from the hospital, even after Handa went back to the people he has always been close to (like Someoka), he sometimes included Kageno (and possibly Max by extension) in his friend group. This scene from Hono Suto chapter 151 seems to support my theory because Kageno and Someoka are seen getting along here.
And then, there's this picture taken at the school festival that shows the trio chose the same activity. And guess what, said activity is Halloween, fitting for the creepy guy himself and the normal guy who learned to embrace the weirdness. Kageno still manages to startle Handa with a flashlight, though XD.
Finishing off the anime, in the last episode, they are both shown to be exhausted after the graduation match, with Kazemaru making them feel better afterwards. There's hope that they'll always be friends, as suggested in this image.
And now, here's some extra content.
Chapters 66-67 from Hono Suto seem to be a reference to their friendship, or at least that's how I see it. In these chapters, Handa wants to try out new clothes that are different from his usual style, only for the Charismatic Saleswoman to choose a style that would fit Kageno more. At first he is embarrassed, but the saleswoman helps him embrace the style, with both her and Gouenji thinking the outfit suits him pretty well. This seems to mirror the subtle growth arc of the Handa and Kageno friendship I've been discussing about.
Before I finish, here's a photo that shows the different reactions of three of Kageno's teammates to his strange aura. Max, one of the few people who doesn't get scared by him (safe for an OOC moment from episode 3), is just eating happily. Megane, the resident Butt Monkey, is absolutely terrified. Handa is somewhere in between. He looks a bit weirdly at Kageno, but he still doesn't flinch.
And now, I just finished the essay I've been procrastinating on since December. I hope you enjoyed the read and don't mind that it took so long.
