Freedom

What is freedom?  How do I define freedom, live freedom, embody freedom?

The foundation to any freedom is emotional and financial freedom.  After that, everything else should be pretty simple.  Well, physical freedom being obvious.

Personally, freedom is going to be fully self-employed.  I do have a start up company in the works.  But, I am dependent on my day job to pay the bills and feed that “baby”.  It will be very rewarding when I know that I have unlimited income potential.  But, it is totally up to me to accomplish.  I do not like that society tries to define me by my position or career.  I would much rather make my own day-to-day decisions and bring home less income than have someone else calling the shots for more income.  I guess slavery can be bought.

Freedom

When I think about my “grown up life” I see....

City living, elevators/stairs, walking out the door to the street of possibilities.   Walking to the local dive coffee shop, where I greet the barista by first name.   She knows my regular order. Where a walk down the street has endless possibilities.  Coffee shops, flower stops, used book stores with rare finds just lying on the open street.  Food trucks,   boutique stores, museums and galleries.  I see city living.  

Rarely do I envision an actual house in the suburbs.  Perhaps a vacation house in the mountains.  But never pulling into a two car garage and being greeted by a husband, children, or a dog.  I do want the husband and children, and dog, actually.   But that looks more like mommy/daughter day trips to the Guggenheim than home school on the 3rd floor of the house.  I want a life full of rich experiences.  I miss the hustle and bustle, even the traffic of Atlanta.  Perhaps I actually enjoy constant stimulation.  Although, when thinking of NYC, the thought of ALL those people, ALL the time is a little off putting.  I guess that is what my home, my sanctuary is for.  Even if it ends up being a tiny walk-up in {gasp} Brooklyn.  I think there might be worse things.  Like living in a city you hate, working a job with no real meaning other than to pay the rent.  Is that enough?  But, with some really great friends.  My gals are pretty awesome.  Ladies who really know me, inside and out.  

What would life be like without them?  Would I meet new people of substance?  I know they would come visit.  Is the trade off of having them visit worth not having them there on a daily basis?  Worth not living with them?  It’s taken literally years to find meaningful relationships, life-long relationships.  I know how to meet girls, how to find friends. 

So what then does my grown up life look like?  Freedom.

But what is freedom?  How do you/I/we define it and live it?

Life Gnosis

Hello and welcome!  This is my attempt at discovering meaning in a so called “do over” of life.  (If that’s even possible.)  Finding freedom while feeling enslaved.  My attempt at discovering something more out of life.  Something more of myself. My attempt at documenting all things that inspire me.  Finding an outlet for new found creativity and a community to share it with.  

Am I really going to do this?  Really going to bare all?  Put myself out there to all to see.  A life unexamined is a life not worth living.....
