This is really too little too late. You will probably read this and delete it quickly. And, maybe I am taking your facebook page too seriously. I don't understand why there are statements made about looking into situations when no attempt is made to contact the theaters. But, I am hoping someone will listen to what actually happened.
In regards to S. B____, he paints a wonderful sob story...that is not true. There was no child with him or ever mentioned that night. Why in the world would we ask a child to take off a tiny cape or make any attempt to embarass his father? Exceptions can and have been made in similar situations. There was no one else that dressed up that night either. We followed what we believed was the corporate stance since Colorado - No Costumes. It seems costumes are now defined as weapon like and masks. Guess someone forgot to send out that memo... A cape IS silly, which made his outburst over unfair treatment seem sillier. He decided to yell loudly that this was a sexist act, that this is his first and last experience at Regal, and hold up the snack bar line. His female companion was not amused and displeased at his unhelpful actions. No one liked his attitude or behavior. It was enough to make you wish you could simply ask him to leave and come back another day.
Additionally, a half hour earlier a group of men going to the same showing threatened to shoot up the building if they could not go into their theater immediately. They left the building with torn tickets. Not knowing who all was in the group, we were on high alert for any sort of activity that could endanger the welfare of the staff and customers. Thus, the cape became an immediate red flag for concealment purposes. In the past few months, we have had an unsettling amount of gun violence threats, people trying to conceal handguns and even people loudly talking about bringing in guns.
We are a small theater without any security personel. We have been forced to go without integral things for months(popcorn machine, a GM, working lights, etc) because of monetary reasons. We try our best to provide the best customer service while meeting rules in place. You know what though - we have the strongest customer loyalty in our district. People who come back despite higher prices and old furnishings. People who compliment the staff with kind and encouraging words. People who notice our efforts when it comes to their safety and satisfaction. And, sadly, we do have our fair share of con artists, theives and simply beligerent people that have the mentality they are above rules and anyone else.
If you are wondering, S. B____ is set to receive four complimentary passes. This message changes nothing, but the truth is shared.
