a visitor on the biodome!!
This is the best ad for Project Hail Mary I have ever seen. Like if I was on the fence about watching or reading it, this would convince me to do so.
ok I know everyone’s considered Ryland grace wearing an “I put the ace in space” t shirt but. have we considered the infinitely funnier option of putting this shirt on eva stratt
I had to draw this
So, AU idea: Gyatso takes Aang away from the Southern Air Temple before Aang can run away, and they BOTH get trapped in ice and survive. Now, the GAang includes Katara, the last waterbender of the Southern Water Tribe; Sokka, a boomerang and tactical genius; Aang, the Avatar; and finally Gyatso, who is now a Grand Grand Grand Lotus with the Order of the White Lotus (headcanon) and keeps scamming random people out of their money cheating at pai sho.
And of course, Gyatso teaches valuable life lessons and has many teachable moments along the way, such as: "yes, stealing from thieves is very wise, Katara!" "Sokka, you should do well to respect the other gender, lest you find yourself at the edge of Kyoshi's fan!" "Aang, procrastinating and turning away from your waterbending training will do you no good! However, I have come up with a good game to play to help you hone your waterbending skills..."
Then, when Zuko and Iroh appear, Gyatso is just like, "okay, we've been banished from the Southern tribe, that's okay, ah! Fire Nation friends! Hello-"
And Zuko mistakes him for the avatar, leading to increasing hijinks.
Also, if any fics like this exist, PLEASEEE drop them in the comments. Thank

I heard there was a secret chord
That Neil once played and it pleased the horde
Everyone talks about Neil banging out the tunes, but no one talks about the fact that there are four known images of Neil, which document him learning piano in a single day! Now that is talent!
man you can tell he’s trying SO hard not to laugh here… he thinks he’s so fucking funny
the next time we get Friday 13th/pi day/stabby day is in 2037
I still think the funniest moment in the Star Wars fandom was when the Padawan book came out and confirmed Obi-Wan as bisexual. The Star Wars dude bros were so upset, they genuinely couldn’t fathom it.
“But— but- Satine!!” Yeah, bi people like women too, kinda how that works.
“But Jedi can’t have relationships!!” Then by that logic there are no straight Jedi either…
Also, they were acting like it was some sort of shock, or like it came completely out of nowhere. Obi-Wan is probably the fruitiest bitch in the galaxy. His ass was sat leg up in his council chair in his custom knee-high Prada boots while Windu was telling Anakin he couldn’t become a Master LMAO. There was so much chemistry in the combined five minutes that he was on screen with Cody that they became one of the most popular ships in this fandom. Disney confirming him as bisexual was just confirming what was already glaringly obvious. That man likes men. Y’all are just blind asf.
Edit because y’all still think I’m lying; The Padawan novel isn’t the only instance where Obi-Wan is implied to be Queer, in the ROTS novelization by Matthew Stover, when Palpatine hints towards Obi-Wan having an affair with a Senator, Anakin assumes it’s a “he” until Palpatine corrects him with “she”. This novel came out in 2005, he’s BEEN QUEER.
And to the people arguing for pansexuality, I get it, but the og actor for Obi-Wan, Alec Guinness, was bisexual. Let’s keep Obi-Wan’s sexuality as a tribute and not fight over it please.
Shows up late to the Jedi Council Chambers with boba tea

Maybe it's naive of me, but whenever I see portraits like this, with just a father and daughter, it restores my faith in humanity a little. Because people seem to love this idea that fathers never loved their daughters in the past and only saw them as bargaining chips for marriage or whatever, but look at the guy in the first portrait on the left, he loves that little girl! And the dad trying to do his work while his daughter bothers him with an Old Timey Barbie. The man teaching his daughter geography, his expression is so soft! The way the man in the last portrait holds the little girl's hand! And none of these are incidental, these aren't photographs, someone (probably the father) paid good money and sat down for hours so that they could have a painting of themselves and their daughter. Probably because they loved their daughter.
From left to right: 1795 Michał Jerzy Mniszech with his daughter Elżbieta - Marcello Bacciarelli; Christopher Anstey and his daughter Mary Ann by William Hoare 1776; A Musician and His Daughter by Thomas de Keyser 1629; The Geography Lesson (Portrait of Monsieur G. and His Daughter), 1812; Jean-baptiste Isabey And His Daughter; Portrait of a Young Girl and Older Man by William Harrison Scarborough
(this is probably somewhat related to my other favourite genre of painting, Husband With Multiple Kids Making Come Hither Eyes At His Wife)
oh I love those! People being people is one of my favourite kinds of paintings and an important reminder that people in past times were not all that different. There were dads who loved their daughters fiercely. There were fathers who happily looked after their babies too. The German reformer Philip Melanchton for example had a cradle in his office. His wife was busy organising a household for 20 people- she was out and about, he mostly worked in his office, it made sense for him to look after their babies too babies while she dropped by at snack time.
in fact often if it was kind of safe dads had the babies in their workshops for just that reason as we can see in these paintings:
The left is “the busy father” by Theodore Weber, the right one is “At the china repairer’s “ by Wenzel Tornoe. All dads who are actively involved in childcare and a painter who thought it was a cute topic rather than anything ridiculous.
I raise you:
