I did what I could to keep my emotions in check; I was on duty, and I couldn’t let her get the better of me.

“Don’t you just miss the old days?” She hummed thoughtfully. “It was so much simpler back then! Just homework and crushes and teenage angst. Much more fun than this silly running around after one another, trying to stop each other at this step and then that one.”

“You’re a criminal now.” I grit my teeth. “You made this choice. I’m only doing my job and stopping you.”
