Chapters: 22/22

It’s finally done. I skipped the entire generator-coolant sequence because it’s pretty anticlimactic after Xen. 

I wrote the final scene back in 2021 when I first started. It’s where her character had to go, but it doesn’t end there. It might take me another half a decade to do part 2! A bunch of scenes are written already but there’s been some drift to the narrative as well. Stay tuned for Beth and Amber Take on the Apocalypse.

some of you have already heard me say this on discord, but reading Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar has made me think about Stalkers even more than i was already inclined to, and i just made the connection that it's very likely the Combine Synths (which, if you dont know, encompasses Striders, Dropships, Gunships—basically anything with both organic and mechanical parts) are each to their original species as Stalkers are to humans. shells of whatever they used to be, repurposed as tools, with all features that did not serve the Combine's use case for them stripped away. i would really love to know what these things looked like and how they behaved before the Combine's modifications. i wanna see a Strider in its natural environment, at whatever its healthy weight might be, with no guns attached to it. augh
