Is casting going to be done on a rolling basis or are you going to wait until all submissions to decide?
Great question! I'm going to wait until the end of the submission period and then decide, and I will contact everyone. Also, there are more roles than what's included here, and lots of room for weird asides and improvisation. So if you don't get one of the characters on the sides, that does not necessarily mean you won't be cast.

I always forget to cross-post over to my personal blog, but in case anyone still reads this: I’m the co-creator of an audio drama called Greater Boston now. We recently wrapped our first season. It went pretty well and more people listened than I ever expected. We’re working on season 2, which we anticipate launching January 2017. We’re releasing mini-episodes throughout the hiatus. This, “Tag,” is the first of those mini-episodes!
We’re a racist country.
We have been since before our inception as a nation. We celebrate freedom along with our independence on the 4th of July despite the fact that "freedom" was far from inclusive and independence came with a gigantic asterisk, shackled to the horrendous, shameful crimes of slavery that served as a sickening foundation in the construction of everything the United States is.
You can't deny this. It's a part of who we are. It was planned. It was methodical. The original Constitution doesn't even specifically mention slavery because in order to unite the states and colonies we had to pretend like it wasn't a gigantic hypocritical problem. The Civil War wasn't a fight between good guys and bad guys but a war between bad guys and worse guys. It was a war of commerce, about slavery as a business and what it would mean for the rest of the country if that business were to spread west.
The Civil War didn't end racism. It didn't even end slavery. Racism and slavery changed and evolved and they are still evolving. Today we've seen more evidence of that evolution. In the days to come, there will be people who refuse to accept the truth in that statement. They'll insist that nothing is wrong, that the innocent people who were killed by the police were shot for a reason. It's not the cops fault, they'll insist and do everything they can to blame the victims.
And they're right. There is a reason why these innocent black men were killed today, one in front of his poor daughters eyes solely for reaching for a wallet after being instructed to do so by the police officer who murdered him in cold blood. These men were killed because they were black. Despite that, yes, this really isn’t the cops fault. The police are just an extension of our racist history, of the collected extension of our historical hatred. When we see black people murdered for being black and we somehow convince ourselves and contort logic solely to pretend like nothing is wrong? We're threading that long, shameful string of racism deeper into who we are as a nation. How can we even begin to address this as an issue when so many of us refuse to even accept it as one, or at least as an issue worth caring about? And when will those of us who do accept it as an issue actually do something drastic enough to force the issue to be taken seriously?
No. We'd rather lie about how wonderful America is than confront how horrible it really is, how horrible it's always been, how good it could be if we agreed to recognize our faults and work towards correcting them.
But we won't.
Because we're a racist country. The harder you deny it, the more racist we are, the more apparent that racism becomes.

Hey there! So, I’m a bad tumblr blogger and I haven’t updated this blog in, like, forever -- and very sporadically before that. But if anyone still pays the slightest bit of attention to this blog, I’d like to promote a new fictional radio-drama podcast I’ve go written and co-produced this past year. It’s called Greater Boston and it’s set in an alt-universe Boston where some of the streets in the North End are still sticky from the great molasses flood and the fire on Spectacle Island never went out. It’ll be debuting within the next couple of months. The first season is written and recorded and my collaborator and I have been hard at work editing the first couple of episodes. A couple trailers should be up later this week and the first episode will probably be out sometime in February. I’ve spent a lot of time on this. I want it to be good. I want people to listen to it. I may even start another blog about it. If so, I’ll let you folks know about that blog. The website URL is above. I hope you check it out and listen. Thanks and be well.
