“It’s fine.” he mumbled and turned his full attention back to her. Emi was right about the coffee payment but he certainly wasn’t about to agree with her. “Yeah, I can see that.” Chase sighed, ”But that’s why you need a break.” Chase had only met the girl sitting across from him and handful of times before this, but she already made such an impact in his life. “I’m the best i’ve ever been.” he shrugged in response finishing off the mug in his hands. Chase forced a smile, “See?”

“maybe it’s just a puddle to you– i wouldn’t be surprised if you lived in one,” maryse shot back childishly, bottom lip in a pout as she crossed her arms dramatically. honestly– some people just didn’t understand how important presentation was for those of a higher stature! “an umbrella wouldn’t have saved me from that! and i’m nearly ten minutes away from home– you’d have me walk all the way there looking a mess like this? preposterous.”

Chase’s hands balled into a fist and he took a deep breath, trying not to let his agitation turn to anger. “Listen, I was just trying to help.” he said through clenched teeth, “You know what they say about karma and all that? Maybe it’s just coming back to bite you in the ass for something rude you inevitably said earlier today.” He couldn’t help but smirk at himself. “There’s a tube station not a block, I bet you could get home in no time. While you do that I guess i’ll make my way back to whatever puddle I apparently came from.”

Chloe sighed and shook her head. “I can’t get the detail right on the leaves. I don’t have the right colors for it.” She decided she was going to give up and finish the detailing later. “It’s not important, just wanted to capture the beauty.”

“I’m not artist, but it looks fine to me.” he shrugged and turned fully to the girl next to him. “Sorry I don’t usually carry around colored pencil’s so i’m not help there. What’s it for anyway?”

Chloe was trying to draw the sunset over the trees but she was having a hard time getting the detail on the leaves with the supplies she had. “Come on! I just need this to work.” She said and slammed the notebook. 

Usually Chase didn’t bother himself with other people, but he was a work in progress. “What?” He looked over at the girl sitting near him, her drawing looked immaculate to him. “What’s wrong with it?” Chase knew absolutely nothing about art, but he knew enough to know that she was talented.

“clearly you don’t understand the significance of what just happened– otherwise you wouldn’t be so flippant about it!” maryse scoffed, frowning and looking down at her ensemble. here she was, in public, gracing the masses with her presence, and as soon as she hit the pavement, a damn car had hit a puddle and absolutely drenched her with murky rainwater and what she could only describe as road sludge. “honestly, i need one of those full body decontamination showers that they have in radioactive areas or something. i don’t think i’ll ever be clean again…”

“I’m sorry?” Chase turned to the girl next to him and looked at what had just happened. “I really don’t get it. It’s just a puddle.” He couldn’t help but roll his eyes, it was just a bit of water and nothing a good washing machine couldn’t fix. “I’m sure it’ll come out, maybe just go and change your clothes?” he suggested trying not to let his lack of care of the situation read in his tone. “I don’t think a decontamination shower should be your first choice. Maybe just invest in a good umbrella?”

“ I’M PAYING ATTENTION. ” emi says, although her head doesn’t lift from her textbook. she had invited the other to grab a cup of coffee as she had a break between some of her classes, yet here she was — not paying attention in the slightest. “ i heard what you said. something about the coffee being delicious, right? ” she hums, flipping the page in her book not bothered by the fact that she wasn’t correct at all.

“Emi?” Chase repeated himself for the third time and rolled his eyes at her answer. He sipped his black coffee not breaking his eyes from her; he couldn’t help but get the slightest bit frustrated at her lack of attention. “It’s not what I said but the coffee’s fine, but I have perfectly good coffee back at my diner that also happens to be free.” Chase took a look around the busy shop and almost everyone looked like Emi, a head shoved in his book. “You invited me here though, remember? Can you take a break for just a second?”

hello!!! my name is pauline i’m 22 and this is my lil bby Chase! i’m not very good at writing intro posts but HERE WE GO! TW: Drugs

So hi everyone this is Chase Pak he is 25 years old and he’s been in London for about five years! 

Chase is an only child, and he moved around a lot when he was young because of his father’s military background. When his father retired him and Chase’s mom opened up a diner in North Carolina where Chase’s mom is from.

 Unfortunately, his dad passed away suddenly from a heart attack when Chase was 10, and he never really coped. His mother was devastated and he always tried to be strong for her, so he suppressed the emotions until he couldn’t anymore.

When he turned 15 he got in with the wrong crowd and started smoking a bit of pot. Eventually pot turned into hard drugs and he was an addict. He ended up disconnecting from his mother through his addiction because he couldn’t stand the look in her eyes anymore. 

Chase’s entire life turned into a massive party, hanging with the same friends that started him on drugs. He spent this phase of his life in New York living off of the money his father had left for him.

He knew what he was doing was wrong but couldn’t bring himself to stop. When chase turned 20 he nearly died of an overdose and that was his wake up call to change his life. He went home to his mom and finally accepted that he needed help. 

Chase’s mom found him a great rehab, and so he went through the toughest time of his life. After he was sober and went through his program, Chase decided to pack up and move and open up a diner in memory of his father, and it landed him all the way in London when he decided to get as far away from his old friends as he could.

Chase still struggles with the death of his father and his addiction so he tends to shut everyone else out.
