you know... my theme actually holds up really well despite all the years i'd been away. surprisingly needed barely any changes to look good on modern tumblr too. THEY ALSO LIKE AUTO-APPROVED ME FOR CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT WHICH I FOUND WILD! I think it might be related to me having a couple of long standing API keys in good standing so they figured if I can responsibly use Tumblr data that I'm not going to abuse JS in my theme to phish people.

i think the only part i hate is the top nav bar that i think might be better served as a "card/bubble" in the narrow column under my bio.

only other big todo is also to port it to the wider 1280 media size since iirc i'm using the narrower 540 ones for some reason.

People bitch a lot about the javascript change. I get it, it's annoying having to ask support for permission, but look it from the other side. Tumblr (and other sites) have something of an obligation to protect their users and their data, and it's been shown time and time again we can't have nice things because there's some evil assholes out there.

This is why myspace removed full html and went to css only (yes i was there that long ago). This is why sites like gaiaonline were css only (v1 for life baby! at least you got almost unlimited custom divs that way!), and sites like neopets moved to css only from full html (shops taught me html! i remember embedding midi music into shops LOL).

Javascript can be incredibly dangerous and easily abused. The biggest easy use of it is to make a fake phishing logon dialog, or redirect you to ads / rogue antiviruses etc.
