bring back season one subversion of tropes FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. killing off the virgin, “helpless” first victim does everything right and still gets taken, “asshole” boyfriend rights his wrongs, “crazy” mother is right about everything. THAT is stranger things, what is was supposed to be. not stereotypes pinned to cardboard characters! eddie should have ran and lived because local town freak never needed a redemption. lonely girl finds strength in her friendship and survives because she finally tells the truth about her emotions regarding her guilt, and that admission saves her as well. bullied, closeted queer kid gets to say aloud who he is and want he wants because goddamnit hasn’t be suffered in silence and loneliness enough? smalltown boy who has never wavered in his love and belief in and of his friends, tells them he loves them because his chest is too small for his big heart. but he loves them differently (el & will) and that’s okay, he’s okay. nancy wheeler runs so far from any relationship because she’s a person first and foremost, not a piece in a love triangle and not some “girlboss.” she has flaws and she’s messy and she is wrong sometimes and that’s okay! I could go on and on but jesus it makes my head hurt that this is where we ended up
