Can I just be the MILLIONTH PERSON EVER to scream about how this isnât a scripted show
Because itâs not a scripted show, but it has all the plot beats of one
Of ALL the characters to die, of ALL of them, it was the one that was always narratively ready for death, felt he was living on borrowed time, had no real goals, and yet was determined to try and do good when he had the opportunity, when no one else in the party had even THOUGHT about being people who could change things or help people yet? In other words, the perfect character to die and get glorified in their minds and motivate them to look after each other, and try harder, be better?
AND HE WAS ALSO THE PC WHO HAD A MYSTERIOUS, UNEXPLAINED DEATH AND RESURRECTION TIED INTO HIS BACKSTORY. THE PC WHO HAD ALREADY DUG HIMSELF OUT OF HIS GRAVE ONCE. THE PC RELEVANT ENOUGH TO AN INTEGRAL WORLD STORYLINE THAT THE REST OF THE PARTY WOULD INEVITABLY GET CURIOUS ABOUT A LONG DEAD ALMOST-FRIEND AGAIN.
THE ONLY PC WHO HAD NARRATIVE BACKING TO COME BACK, IN A WAY THAT CAN BE JUSTIFIED, AS SOMEONE ELSE, SOMEONE RELEVANT TO THEIR GOALS, MONTHS AND LEVELS AND OUT-OF-GAME YEARS LATER, IN A WAY THAT NOT ONLY DOESNâT FEEL CHEAP, BUT ACTIVELY BUILDS INTO WHATâS GOING ON RIGHT NOW?
And their stupid name. Their joke âNein,â Zemnian no, but sounds like â9âł name, made when they rolled way too many nines one episode and the character who almost spoke fantasy-French but went fantasy-German instead turned it into a catch phrase about his home language.
The Nein. Nine eyes. Nine schools of magic, one brand new and homebrewed and unknown at the time, to make the number relevant. Itâs become a meme long before it was an ominous sign of something unknown, and by extension a thematic connection to that PC. That PC who was supposed to have died but because it was that PC, that PC who had nine eye tattoos and a history of coming back and had a history with this very plot beat, isnât.
This show. I ABSOLUTELY get the âthis is scriptedâ crew. Man.
