Hello all!
It's finally December! Yay, that mean's we can all go back to blogging and our normal lives. For those who braved November and were able to come out victorious, I say congratulations from the bottom of my heart. I know how hectic the penultimate month of the year is and how hard it can be to find time to write. (Believe me, I've had my share of problems this November). I am happy to say that I was able to reach my goal of 50,000 with a solid story that is not too horrible. So, I can't wait to tackle my next novel.
If you participated in Nanowrimo, why don't you tell me about some crazy adventures you had while typing out a novel? I would love to share my crazy month with you all! Also, this year, I would really love a beta reader for my novel. I would love for someone to read my story and give me feedback on my novel before I try and get it published for my two free copies. If anyone would be willing to swap their story with mine, I will read it and give feedback as best as I can. Just message me here or send me an e-mail ([email protected]) so that I can get back to you on that.
Once again, congratulations! I am so proud of the winners (and all the participators) out there of Nanowrimo. You came, you wrote, you conquered. Please feel free to talk to me about a manuscript swap as I would love to read any novel that you churned out this November. Have a great end to your year and keep on writing!
Nanowrimo is in less than 15 days away!
I hope everyone is getting pumped for an exciting Nanowrimo! This year, let's all make it to the 50,000 word-count mark and start that novel just waiting to be written. Don't be shy! Nanowrimo's all about expressing your inner thoughts and letting it out through writing.
With a cool new theme and an awesome, modern layout, Nanowrimo is bringing out the big guns. If you plan on having your novel entered for the 30 Covers, 30 Days, head on over to that forum thread and nominate yours! Maybe you'll get lucky and strike it big and have a professional artist make you a cover!
Other than that, just be ready to write. Brainstorm character names, plot, theme, and anything you can think of. With t minus 14 days, you've got time to brainstorm, brainstorm, brainstorm! Make sticky notes and litter your laptop screen with them, draw out a plot diagram, look through countless name dictionaries, and plan, plan, PLAN. When you start haviing a writer's block around the middle of November, you'll be happy that you planned ahead.
Lastly, be ORIGINAL. Don't go for the average cliches found throughout literature. Take a chance and write that crazy sci-fi novel, or that story about Abraham Lincoln being a vampire slayer...oh wait, that one's taken. Anyway, maybe you could change it to James Monroe? Anyway, just don't let people discourage you and tell you that you can't make it. YOU CAN DO IT! Everyone has a story inside of them, they just have to tell it.
Hello! Brooke here! I am here to tell you about a little fundraising thing I’m doing. I know that this is a little much to ask of you all, but it would be a great help to me!

Prompt a day to train your brain
Weekly challenge! It’s Friday, so I want to do a weekly challenge. This is weekly challenge #1.
You know those little blurbs on the back of novels? Well, for Weekly Challenge #1, you will write one of them. For a book that’s completely fictional and made up. What you want to do is to try and make it sound like a legit book. Whomever comes up with the best one will win a little something. (Over the internet, of course) Who will win?
Prompt a day and them prompt for a month
Pictures are always a fun way to get people to write stories. Today's prompt will be a random photo. You don't know what's happening in the photo, you just have to write about the person in the photo and what you think is happening.
What's going on?
Prompt a day and then carry on
Fairy tales are always fun to write. People love to listen to them and to change them and to make them adult-rated. However, when you get down to the skin and bones, they are in the same format: the girl (princess, sometimes) is in a bad situation, the boy (prince, most times) is looking for a respectable wife, the boy saves the damsel-in-distress, they live happily ever after, etc. So, in this day and age, write a modern fairy tale with your own little twist.
She is a hardworking businesswoman in New York City. He is the average Joe off the street. Even though they come from two completely different words, fate decides that they should be together. How will this all pan out when she finds out that everything she dreamed of was right in front of her all along?
Prompt a day and it becomes a habit
Today, we're going to personify animals. Anthropomorphic animals are a theme that many writers use, especially children's writers. So, we're going to bring to life an animal of our choice.
Our main character is a banker for a forest. It keeps tabs on all of the other animals in the forest. However, the only animals that it can't seem to control it's rowdy children (pups, cubs, piglets, etc.) When the leader of the forest comes to complain to the main character, the main character does not know what to do. How will he/she handle the situation?
Prompt a day and then prompt some more
Today's all about persuasion. Can you persuade your audience into actually believing in your characters? If your characters aren't persuasive enough to the audience, then they will never be able to become beloved characters over the years. You must flesh out your character and make them believable. It made sound a little weird, but think of it as writing an epic back story that can relate to audiences and make them love your character.
The main character had a traumatic event in their past. For some reason, they could not remember as they had memory loss. Now, they want to find the clues. But they need help from five strangers. How will they go about this and uncover the mysteries inside their own head?
Prompt a day for a lifetime...
Today, we'll be doing a memoir prompt. If you can't write about yourself and your experiences in detail, then you definitely can't write about a fake person and their fake experiences in detail. Don't be nervous or afraid, just write about an experience you've had.
When you were a kid, you loved the feeling of freedom. Parents seemed too stuffy, so you wanted to stay away from them. Write about a time when you did get away and how that turned out. In the end, what did you learn from being away from mom or dad?
Prompt a day, prompt away!
Alright, now it's time to get into your inner poet. Poetry helps with the lyricality of your writing. Words flow more naturally in poems, but we also want our words to flow in our writing. We'll do a simple one today.
Write a free verse poem that talks about someone's passion. This passion can be anything you want. But, you must not tell what your passion is. So, what is your passion?
