people saying louis should be on his own and go to therapy and get a healthier sense of self outside of relationships. well where's the fun in that
a lot of ppl in the notes of the previous post are mentioning museums hoarding stolen cultural objects which is important beyond measure but museums shutting down due to lack of funding will not result in repatriation of cultural materials, they would most likely be auctioned off to private ultra-wealthy collectors to recoup some of their debt and we'd never find these objects again let alone be able to repatriate them. i understand the desire to say 'fuck museums let them die' for this reason but it won't have the result you think it will, and it will also mean that all of their ethically sourced and donated materials (which for most museums are the vast majority of their collections) will no longer be cared for by experts but again, sold off to private collectors who can do whatever they want with them or deteriorate in storehouses indefinitely. this would be catastrophic for public history and collective knowledge-sharing across the globe across cultures, and museums in post-colonial and run by/for racialized or otherwise oppressed ethnic groups will fall first because they receive FAR less funding than the large western institutions. just repeating phrases and sentiments you've seen online as a form of performative activism without knowing anything about what you're talking about does more harm than good and doesn't make you look smart or clever just foolish it's so deeply annoying and frustrating
i don't know why all of you seem to think the only museums that exist are the massive western imperial institutions that have historically dealt with stolen artefacts, the majority of museums are Not these large institutions and there are museums across the globe in every country that require funding to preserve That Country's Own Material History. stop acting like you know everything because you read a twitter thread about it oh my fucking god
there's something very uniquely evil in the fact that the food aid dropped to gazans by the US wasn't halal
if that strikes you as naive or nonsequitur, i want you to put yourself into the shoes of a palestinian in the gaza strip, suffering untold famine and trauma at the hands of israel and the US empire, living through a genocide of everyone you've known and loved.
now imagine that the only food that you can eat is food that violates your religious dietary restrictions, sent straight from the people who are supplying the bombs and guns for you to be killed.
is that not, too, a form of ethnic cleansing? of erasure?
Genuinely crying at work rn. They have thousands of old photos (from the 50s to the 90s) they asked me to scan (so they can create a digital archive). Today I found a photo from a 80s protest with a banner that says "FOR THE PALESTINIAN CHILDREN". It's been 40 years. It has been a lot more than that, actually. And still.
[ID: an edited meme showing a Black man looking out across a street with text above them reading “I bring a sort of “just pirate it” Vibe to the conversation that my “which streaming service is that on” friends don’t really like”. /end ID.]
please explain to me how it’s anywhere near ethical in the international pov that israel opened fire on nasser hospital a few days ago, killing a patient and wounding several. keep in mind that this is the main operating hospital in southern gaza, and bombing it out of service could mean catastrophic things for the endless stream of gazans wounded. and they don’t even stop there. the IOF proceeded to raid the hospital, on grounds that hamas was “hiding remains of hostages in the hospital” (because that sounds completely reasonable and not an excuse fabricated for the sole sake of justifying murdering palestinian patients). how do people hear this and still don’t think Israel is a genocidal entity. how does anyone read a headline like that and not want to throw up from how depraved and horrific it all sounds.
it also just broke today that apparently israel abducted 100+ palestinians during the raid on nasser hospital, many of whom were health workers. a lot of health workers also had to flee during the raid, leaving many patients behind in the besieged hospital (presumably to face either a slow death due to untreated wounds or a fast one at the hand of a gunshot). you really think it can’t get any worse than it already did—and then it gets so. much. worse.
It’s just so damn heartbreaking.
In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)
I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).
Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.
So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.
I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.
I hope we will be dragons.
Hey everyone, this is Bisan from Gaza. I'm still alive but Hind is not. Do you remember Hind Rajab? This seven (7) years old child who was missed 12 days ago. Hind was in a car with five (5) family members and they were all killed - except Hind - by an Israeli bomb, and then she called the Ambulance, she asked them to rescue her. Two Ambulance men from the Red Crescent tried to do this but they were also missed. Now; today they were found killed. The body of Hind found killed, found murdered. It's just a new massacre added to the list of endlessly massacres committed by Israel against my people; Palestinians in Gaza right now.
No one holds Israel accountable until now. No one is doing anything. Hind was killed. Who is the next? I don't know, it might be any one of us, but I mean, it's a new, it's a new massacre - she is murdered. You all heard her story, you all heard her voice asking for help saying (Bisan speaks in Arabic first then translates to English the following) "take me with you, take me from here". She was between dead bodies for days, alone and no one could rescue her. We knew where she was, we knew that she was okay, we knew that she could contact the Red Crescent but no one rescued her.
-- Bisan on Instagram, 02.10.2024
There really is nothing left to say.
I genuinely feel disgusting. All the love and support I could give, the donations, the spreading of awareness, all of it--and none of it could save this child. I've listened to audio of her begging to be rescued, of her telling the operator that she's afraid of the dark. All of it has done nothing, because she was still killed. The Red Crescent paramedics who tried to save her were literally targeted by Israeli forces on arrival. Deliberately. On purpose. I know we have to keep talking about this, I know there's no end to this until Palestine is free--until Palestinian children stop being liberally massacred like this--but I just had to lament the fact that this child's death won't be enough to the world. It has never been enough. This isn't the first and it won't be the last, and there's really no telling when these deaths--of these children, these human beings who didn't get the luxury to live like you and I do--will be enough.
you think you're not inconveniencing anyone by not having wants and needs, but actually you're just hard to shop gifts for

Tumblr just put a fcuking harry potter post on my feed as a "recommendation based on your likes"
Why not recommend me smallpox next. Or arthritis maybe.

Yeah I'm not doing all that. Tumblr should just ban all things related to that franchise
you are like a mewling helpless baby you are standing in the rain and i am offering you a goddamn umbrella and you throw it on the floor and yell at god to abolish rain
"you are standing in the rain and I am offering you a goddamn umbrella and you throw it on the floor and yell at god to abolish rain" is a killer line and I wish I wrote that
noticed a dip in posts about palestine on my dash, so i think it deserves to be said again: palestine is not a trend. caring about genocide is not a trend. there are still reports about humanitarian aid trucks intentionally blocked off from gaza, meaning so many fucking gazans, a big portion of them children, are just bleeding out with no help. it just came out recently that israelis disguised as women and medics infiltrated a west bank hospital, at which point they killed 3 palestinians (whom they claim were militants. right). these people are living day to day without even the most basic utilities. anyone who claims to have “activism fatigue” needs to question why they’re so severely lacking in the most basic forms of compassion. you don’t get to just grow bored of talking about palestine. please never stop calling attention to the genocide happening full force in front of us.
