How to play slow damage in japanese without understanding japanese because jast sucks
I decided to help out the people who are sick of the way jast blue acts. Not only do they have no respect for their soon to be released game slow damage, they are also making jokes about it, spreading wrong information and now they are also marketing as “all age” on steam for minors to buy. And I don’t give a shit if people played dmmd when they were under 18 too. This.game.is.not.for children. As someone who played it I know exactly how horrible the themes in the game are and how hard it was to deal with it in even as an adult. No child should be allowed near the game and making it as hard as possible to get your hands on it is the best way to do so, which of course jast doesn’t do. Instead, they let children in their discord server and are spreading lies (yes they lie about working close with n+c and going through the translation word by word, the translation of everything they showed was really inaccurate if not wrong). And I can only ask people to please not support them, we waited to long for someone to finally license these games we deserve better, there are other companies who license bl games and they do a better job (mangagamer, moonchime) without lying and keep postponing the release. Now the question of course you still want to play the game right? But jast is the only way right? Wrong you can still play it right now without having to wait until jast releases their cut-up shit translated version and I will explain how to do so. Of course I won’t spread any pirated version, we still want to support the company who produces these games, so we will do it the legal way.
First you need the game, there are two options to buy it: the download version or the hard copy one. Starting with the download version which is the easy one. You can get it on dlsite (here). As you can see the price is high and that’s pretty normal for Japanese bl games (you also have to pay with credit card)
or if you are a collector of hard copies you can also buy it on their own website (here only the Japanese website their global store doesn’t have the games but you can still buy merch there) also on some other sides too, some even still have the bonus merch just look it up on the slow damage side (here) for the hard copy you have to use a shopping service if you don’t live in Japan, I recommend zenmarket (here)
Great now you have the game and are probably asking yourself “But I cant understand how am I supposed to play it?” right? Well don’t worry some genius people on the internet invented a program that translates game by itself.
Let me introduce textractor, you can get it completely free here, download and install it.
Textractor is a program that catches the text in a visual novel and translates it. Now that you have it you need another thing to be able to play slow damage. Normally you could just attach the game to textractor and start playing but some games have a complex programming and need a hook to catch the text of the game.
You need this hook for sd: /HS65001#-1C@5C40:slowdamage.exe
What you need to do is to add the hook to your textractor files with the game file path. I have a full step by step tutorial (with pictures) how to do it here, or just look it up on the internet.
So now that you did everything you can start the game attach it to textractor, which should be able to find the text and play it.
Now remember this is a machine translation it wont be perfect but it is still very good and has no dude bros in it, you can use deepl with textractor which is the best translating program for Japanese. The deepl version in textractor has a text limit that why I use sugoi translator (here) that has deepl to but without the limit you can also use translation aggregator (here) but I’m not an expert on this one, there is also agent (here) but I never tried it. Usually I use textractor + sugoi translator (+sometime TA too) just to be save if deepl fucks up the translation. One thing deepl or any other translator cant do is translated name which is not a problem with slow damage because the names are written in English in the game under the japanese names.
That’s pretty much everything you need to know.
Happy gaming and don’t forget NOT to support companies who lie and sell mature content to minors.
