We’ve been waiting for this moment for so long and there’s so much here to unpack. I need to document this for future developments.
In this chapter, Twilight is thrown for a loop when Yuri drags him to his S.S.S party and the fact that he went with him willingly is WILD. I saw someone else post about how he’s very much Loid Forger in this chapter, seeing his wife and daughter off, thinking about playing with his dog and doing hospital paperwork. When your BIL shows up and holds you hostage for the day you don’t even think to question it until it’s too late.
The minute he gets his bearings he’s in full panic mode. His anxiety is high his stomach literally ripping itself apart because WTF Twilight? I don’t think he thought him and Yuri were besties yet, but he maybe let his guard down a bit.
The interrogation was standard. I think they did a good job of showing us how the S.S.S operates under the guise of a friendly interrogation despite Twilight not knowing what was happening. I love how confused this man is the entire time he’s being questioned like WHY WOULD THEY ASK THESE THINGS?
Finally this SCENE. In this moment he is not Twilight being interrogated by the S.S.S. He’s a simple 32 year old Psychiatrist who is in love with his wife. There is no deception in his eyes because Twilight has conditioned himself to become Loid Forger his beliefs are Loid Forger’s beliefs. In this role and for the mission it is imperative that Loid Forger is perceived as a loving husband and father, and since Loid Forger loves his wife there’s only truth in this statement as identified by the officer. Twilight has gone above and beyond to master this role. To keep Anya in school and ensure that Yor is happy. He has become Loid Forger because that’s what STRIX demands. It’s not a conscious thought, he loves Yor as a husband should in this situation.
Twilight on the other hand is a ghost, a puppet, a MASTER OF DISGUISE. He does not see himself as a real person and therefore he does not have real feelings.
This last scene to take us into the next two weeks got me. This decision coming back to bite him in the ass was insane, because he really did not think Yor would ever meet Captain Curtis especially if she didn’t know where her brother worked or that he was part of the secret police. It seemed safe at the time and in the beginning when he was still thinking with his head and not his heart he really thought that he might not be in this family or relationship for that long.
I don’t think Yor is at the door, BUT if she is I think we are getting some type of reveal.
Someone in that room is going to find out that they have been lied to.
Either Yor puzzles together that everyone in that room except her husband and brother are dangerous on instinct alone, or she comes face to face with Captain Curtis and she realizes her brother has been lying to her about his job and we have a hurt Yor and a potential THORN PRINCESS BACKSTORY. 🤞
