“So, my mothers visiting me this weekend. Don’t ask me why, I really wish she wasn’t. But please just give me a suggestion on how to keep us busy with as little interaction as possible”.
“As little interaction as possible? Why does your mum coming to visit sound like such a bad thing?”
brigittexainsworth:
“I’m kind of hoping that if takes it badly I can easily just chalk it up to a joke just to get a reaction out of him because he’s always the one doing a joke on me. He’s basically the only friend I have, well, real friend I should say.” Okay that made her sound a little pathetic right? Damn it. “Oh no, I can’t just kiss him, I may be okay with rejection but that? That’s more like humiliation. You’re not very good at giving advice are you?”
“No,” he admitted. “I generally just make like a bull in a china shop when it comes to the opposite sex. Often there are so many games and things that people play. I’ll just go right in and say ‘hey, let’s go’ to a girl rather than beat around the bush, or if I’ve been like you, just declare that I want something more and demand it. Might work out... might not...”
huntsmuses:
She clung tightly to the card before she eventually slid it into her pocket. “Yes, yeah, of course.” Teddy nodded, a smile pulling at her lips as she looked up at him. Her heart was actually pounding, oh good, what was she getting herself into? It seemed she’d couldn’t stop herself from diving in head first, her only explanation was the adrenaline.
“All right, I think that’s all. Sorry for all the inconvenience, of course. I’m sure the man will be prosecuted and that will include taking everyone else’s life in danger. You might be called on to appear in court, just so you know.” He smiled. “Maybe I should try and coach you some before then...”
“So person A has a little crush on person B. But person B has sort of become their best friend and I’m sorry, but things don’t work out like they do in books or movies, so does person A let person B know that they have slightly romantic feelings for them? Or do they just shut up and hope it goes away?”
Sounds pretty much like trouble waiting to happen. I mean, do you go with the possible love that could happen, take that leap, knowing that if it ends badly, things will never go back the way they were? Or do you ignore it? Or do you just smooch them one night while watching TV and see where it goes? I don’t even know man.
huntsmuses:
Teddy almost didn’t believe that he was asking her out, she found the previous situation to be more believable. Not that she minded, not at all, but it just added to the dream like feeling she had raced through her. Perhaps it was the adrenaline pumping through her that had her so confidently agreeing to him, normally she would be a bubbling mess trying to agree. “Dinner sounds great. Really great.”
Bobbing a muscular shoulder, he gave her a smile and nodded. “I’m glad...” David’s eyes met the girl’s. He attempted to focus back on work, taking down her information and doing his best to stay ‘professional’, though it failed from time to time. “All right, I guess that’s all I need for now. Hopefully I’ll hear from you later, yeah?”
"Well that's a fairly brilliant thing to do then," he smiled. "Even if your brother doesn't need any... coaching... I have a feeling we'll have much more to talk about, day, over dinner?" It wasn't exactly normal to ask a witness out, but there was something about this girl that said it was a pretty good idea.
huntsmuses:
Teddy reached out for the card, glancing at it before keeping it held in her hand. “I wouldn’t say that too loud, you don’t want to hurt the cards’ feelings.” She laughed softly. Her arms slowly unwrapped from around herself, although her hands still continued to fiddle with the fabric of her shirt. “He’d probably growl right back at you… Although you are pretty tall, I’m sure you could pull off the scary look so if I think he needs it, I’ll be sure to give you a call.
He smirked - she was a pretty quick one, able to catch onto those little things and run with it. Which was amazing compared to the situation she’d just lived through, but there always was a tendency to latch onto life after a time like this and really ‘live’. “Well... I think either way... you should call it...” added David in a bit of a lower voice, his eyes meeting hers again.
huntsmuses:
“I’m sure I’ve just plagued your perfectly innocent mind by showing this to you, I must sincerely apologise and hope that you can forgive me.” Leia couldn’t help but laugh. She tried to hold it in, but obviously was completely failing.
“You are the corrupting force!” laughed David. “Who knew I’d be led astray from my vows of purity of mind and body by such a vixen!” teased the man. He chuckled along with her. “So now I’m trying to think what you can do with that thing.”
huntsmuses:
“How could I miss out the valiant police officer from a crime novel? But, if you wish for me to name him after you, I will first need to know your name.” Teddy told him, laughing softly as she watched him turn his head. “Oh, so your plan is to scare some respect into my brother?” She nodded, hoping the poorly lit room was enough to hide the blush that was growing on her cheeks. “He’s twelve, I’m sure he’ll learn soon enough.”
“Sorry, it’s David...” he said, fishing a card from his notebook from a stack and passing it over to her. “I’d get around to it, eventually, in the interview. My flirting got in the way,” chuckled the man. “...but in being honest, I’m a bit of a tart because I’ll give everyone here my card to boot,” added the man. It was standard procedure in covering a crime scene, people remember facts later and it was a good way of keeping in contact with people. “Oh, twelve? Well, I can just look down and growl a bit at him then,” chuckled the man. “That should be plenty.”
huntsmuses:
Eyes raised, she turned her head slowly to look up at him and just laughed. “Oh, you’re just a regular male version of the virgin Mary, aren’t you? I could tell from the moment I first laid eyes on you.” Leia shook her head.
“I am a sweet and innocent little flower, and have no earthly idea how to use that massive sex toy, nor have given the first thought to how I’d use it with you,” he blinked, looking away ‘innocently’ and laughing.
huntsmuses:
“I never saw myself as a crime novelist, but who knows, maybe this is a sign.” She said, her arms that were tightly wrapped around herself became slightly looser, starting to lose the feel of needing to protect herself, not quite safe, but getting there. “Thank you.” She offered a small smile. It may have been slightly unprofessional, but she may be the least professional person and so, it made her feel better about it all. “You should tell that to my younger brother. He’s convinced himself that I am the oldest person in the world, even if some of his teachers are much, much older than I am.”
His blue eyes met the girl’s and he smiled, watching her relax as she talked along. “Be sure and name a valiant police officer after me in the book. Remember my left side is my best side,” chuckled David, pointing to his left jaw as he tilted his head some and then laughed. “Oh, no, you tell me where to find your younger brother. I’ll show up in full uniform and straighten him out for you. His sister is young and hot, and he should respect you!”
dxvyas:
“I wouldn’t necessarily call it shock. I just… didn’t expect it. I don’t think anyone would have.” Divya wasn’t entirely sure why she felt the need to deny just how scared she’d been but for some reason it seemed almost necessary. “I’m fine. Absolutely fine,” she repeated, mostly to calm herself down. “You handled that very well. Well, that was completely redundant, wasn’t it? It’s your job, of course you would handle it well. I’m sorry.”
He gave her a smile - an easygoing, understanding one that he’d used many times before when doing interviews after a traumatic situation. “I know you’re fine, you are the definition of ‘fine’,” teased David, looking her over from head to toe... then grinning. It was a plot to diffuse some of the tension, he did his best not to flirt on the job. Mostly. “Thanks. I wish I could say that it wasn’t a problem, but it always is, the moment you stop being afraid is the moment you should not do what I do for a living.”
huntsmuses:
“A little small? It’s like the King Kong of sex toys.” Leia commented before shaking her head. She made a face and laughed. “Ew, but yeah maybe it would be best to just leave it. At least I get a story out of it.”
“I meant compared to me,” he teased with a smirk, then laughed out loud. “But yes, I mean, that’s one of those viral videos waiting to happen. As far as it goes with a porn. Not that I would know -anything- about that, I’m so innocent,” David smirked.
notoriouszig:
“I have no idea, but none of the kids seem to recognize him,” she said, looking around at all the terrified children. “This is bullshit. Who would do something like this?” she muttered, kneeling down to attempt to comfort one of the kids.
He raised his hands, shaking his head. “At a child’s birthday party, no less? You’d only suppose someone bonkers... maybe it’s a child custody thing? Or worse. I’m guessing there are going to be some ugly things brought out because of whatever he tells us back in the station. I’ll make a call, see about getting a grief counselor down here to talk to the kids as well.”
ms-valdez:
“If you may? Hm, let me think…” Running late, don’t wait. Amalia hit the send button on her phone. People seemed far too impressed with what had just happened, and they had every right to. But not Amalia, no. She remained calm, humorous even. It wasn’t her first hostage experience, you see. She’s had a target on her back the moment she took her firsth breath. It was a little price she had to pay for being her father’s daughter. Her father kept the better part of the top 1% wealthiest people’s secrets secured from cyber attacks; he was close to being one of the mentioned percent himself. Amalia never complained. “Yes. You may, inspector Workman.”
He raised an eyebrow, remembering this girl from once before. He’d gotten a briefing on her, some contract work for the Yard in technology. But there was something more to that, some familial connection and needing to be on the lookout for a stalker or protection or... something. The exact thing skipped his mind at the moment, her nonchalant attitude at what she’d just witnessed arousing that suspicious instinct. No one should see guns brandished in front of them and not blink. “So kind, thank you,” he said, flipping to a fresh page in his notebook. “What was your business here and what did you see?”
huntsmuses:
It helped, no longer being able to see the scene anymore. Her arms still tightly wrapped around herself as she kept her eyes on him. “Hey, you never know maybe I’ll be able to write a good book around the experience.” She tried to make to the situation better for herself, to make herself feel better. Oh, yeah, Teddy. Teddy is fine.” She told him. Normally, she would introduce herself as Teddy, but she never thought this was the time. “Ms. Parkinson would just make me feel old.” She said, once again trying to make a little joke that would make herself feel better.
“Well, there are some crime novelists who’ll follow us around and watch every move we make. And we think our internal investigation people are nosy,” he chuckled, joining with the girl in making light of the situation. “Teddy? That’s...” he nodded, licking his lip as he smiled and looked down a bit. “..adorable.” Maybe not the most professional word, but it was applicable to her and her name. David looked back up to the girl’s eyes. “Ha, well I think you have quite a ways to go until you’re ‘old’, so no worries.”
