âXena was born in Amphipolis, a small coastal town in the country of Greece. When she was between the ages of fifteen and sixteen her village was attacked by a warlord named Cortes. Together with her two brothers they joined the villagers to try and stop the warlord. Cortes retreated but Xenaâs younger brother Lyceus was killed. Mourning his death she vowed never to let another warlord attack her village. She set off on a crusade to ensure this by any means necessary. She began b attacking the surrounding villages and making it clear that any enemy of Amphipolis would be swiftly and severely dealt with. As her army grew so did her ambition. When she was 17 she captured Julius Caesar and held him for ransom. She was intrigued by this man and his belief in his own destiny. She offered to join forces with him but he betrayed her setting in motion a pivotal event in her life. She was no longer concerned with protecting her home village and became what she had vowed to fight against. As a warlord she traveled to the east and met the warlord Borias. While in the East she met Lao Ma, ruler of one of the most powerful families in China. They became friends and Xena learned much about herself during their association. While she still held on to her hatred and anger she also discovered that she could also find peace. She did not allow herself to explore this avenue at this time. Borias and Xena left Chin to return to Greece where they faced the Centaurs in the famous battle of Corinth. Xena was pregnant with Boriasâ child and gave birth on the eve of the battle. She approached Kaliepus, the leader of the Centaurs and asked that he accept the child and raise it as his own. This was one of the hardest decisions of her life. She feared what the child would grow to become if he was exposed to her violent way of life and decided to give him the opportunity for a peaceful life. After Corinth Xena spent another seven years riding with her army plundering and looting all they encountered until she met Hercules. Her experiences with Hercules showed her that it wasnât too late for her to try and turn her life around. When she left Hercules she went on a quest to find herself. To see if there was anything in her worth redeeming. She had just about given up all hope when she ran into a group of slavers in the woods one day. They were rounding up the local village girls. One of the girls offered to give herself in exchange for the rest and Xena was awe struck. She helped the girls by defeating the slavers. The girl who had stood up to them was a girl of 17 named Gabrielle. After much debate she left her home village to follow Xena. What followed would be an epic tale of love, friendship, devotion and growth.â
