She chewed on the cookie for a few moments after Bonnie asked her for more information on her initial text. Caroline hadn’t given any clue to what it was about, simply that it was a 911 text & girl talk was needed immediately. How to even go about this? The beginning was probably the best, she supposed. She had filled Bonnie in on the happenings between her and Derek for some time, but this was the most puzzling one to date. She thought she had everything figured out. Enough had happened to let Caroline figure out that he did have feelings for her, but he wasn’t willing to act on it. But if that was true…. why did he kiss her? Albeit, just a kiss on the cheek, but it still had to mean something. For someone trying to keep her just at a friend level, that was awfully confusing.

❝ —Derek came to my birthday party. And he kissed me on the cheek before he left. How am I supposed to take that? ❞

Maybe it was the comfort of a friend, or maybe Bonnie had finally gotten the recipe down to perfection, but something about the cookies she was eating made her feel warm and comforted. Until Caroline mentioned her boy issue. A little cough escaped from Bonnie’s throat as she slightly choked on the smallest portion of a cookie. Boy problems was always an automatic 911 girl talk and Bonnie couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at her friend.

“ Wait — A kiss on the cheek? Or a kiss on the cheek? ”

Bonnie made her best attempt at a wink with the second emphasis, jokingly puckering her lips at Caroline before offering a reassuring smile.

“ Elena. — Stop. You didn’t choose to be the doppelganger. You didn’t purposely try to kill anybody. Do not put those deaths on yourself. Elena, look at me. I’m not dead. And I don’t plan on dying anytime soon. No matter what happens, you have me. You’ll always have me. ”

“It just sucks, okay? They keep on messing up and now we have to mourn friends and find a way to fix their mess. And I guess we don’t even know what they did, let alone how to fix it.”

“ I could use a permanent vacation from this craziness right now. But of course it’s right in the middle of the school semester... As much as I value my education, school seems like a little bit of a waste of time in comparison to ... well everything else. ”

“maybe that’s what i’ve missed out on, since i have no idea how that feels. but as hard as it might be, not thinking about them might save people’s lives. if no one wants a repeat of what just happened, we should all be focusing on the military that has infiltrated your town.”
