Discord servers are a damn plague on fandoms. They're fun for small groups, but I hate how imperative they're becoming to even participate in fandom stuff now. Nothing cool or interesting in them can be search indexed or found with a google or DDG search because they're behind a wall, the information in general isn't accessible at all to anyone who's not in the server, conversations always revolve around a handful of people ie. whoever is the most talkative and can command the most attention, quality contributions just get lost among tons of smaller, low-quality one-line messages, it's nowhere near as laid back as forums and accountability is much lower because people know their messages will just get lost and pushed up over a few minutes or hours (which leads to harassment, cliques, shitty behaviour in general), etc etc.
