The acid in my viens

The pulse in my head

The way my stomach drops.

The way the first breath I take

Makes me sick.

Do you feel dizzy like I do?

Do you downplay it?

IT'S A LIE

It's a mistake.

A burden with

a pretty face

Do you listen?

Or do you fight?

Fight

Or flight.

Don't take too long to decide.

Bed Belonging to an Artist's Friend: *neat, tightly tucked in sheets, one blanket, two-three pillows max*

The Bed Belonging to the Artist: *Three pillows, two blankets they don't use, one really heavy blanket they use, a sketchbook, 12 brush pens held together by a rubber band, freeroaming Kleenex, tarot cards, a remote that doesn't control the television they're in the same room as, earbud charging case, a tube of carmex and a piece of silverware that varies between a fork, a spoon, a butter knife, and sometimes a steak knife, and the non-optional emotional support stuffie*

Someone, come on, rescue me.

Put your hands around my neck

that's right.

I'll show you where to push your thumbs-

then I'll tell you when I've had enough.

Only one of those things

is in just.

The other one I think you know

doesn't mean much.

Someone, come on, please save my life

push your toxin in my heart

try to teach death the resurrection art.

Someone, come on, try again,

step right up and guess my sins

keep me busy until I understand the error code.

Test my patience,

as the clocks begin

to chase.

Where's my sense of feeling?

That knife wound in my chest is healing.

Why does dust settle in the cracks?

Why did you take your broken glass

from where you broke it on my back?

Someone come on, listen, please.

I'm fading, I'm fading

my hair is thinning,

the room is spinning

my hands are shaking.

There are lightning bolts in my head

this foundation of mine is finally breaking.

Someone, come on

press your tongue into the cuts.

Salt the place where fire will wither me

and make sure the stake will stand

long after my stay.

Someone come on

this pain in my skull

is nothing more than neon rain.

It's been awhile since I've looked around here. How is everyone?

I've become addicted to your eyes as of late.

They say the night can't speak... But in the dark of the sky, you can still hear some insomniac scream...

So this life hurled me into fire-

flames always know just where to lick. 

Scars are charred-

tattoos on me are quotes with your promises

that were empty within. 

So this life hurled me into sin-

but I want to know what innocence is again. 

Let the water wash away

why we even bother

why we chose to stay. 

This life makes a fool out of all your lovers

and it makes sure to destroy the others

dust and smoke to get inside and make you

choke. 

This life hurls you into glory-

it frees you

ties you up in pretty chains

so you don't want to change. 

This life hurls you into pain-

the way we bleed still feels the same. 

It makes us wicked-

it makes us a new type of sane. 

This life hurls you into rain

under sun and moon

a different kind of prophet to read your doom. 

It's a tough acid tab to swallow. 

This life hurls you into a story hard to follow

but I want you to listen close-

trust me like you'd never trust any of those

martyrs or story-tellers

on street corners selling half-price prose.

This life hurls you into fire

smoke highlights all the liars. 

Find my voice through careless whispers

find my hand through dodgy memorex. 

This life hurls you into self deprecation-

lawless self-mutilation. 

Reform, erosion, exposure:

do not love yourself

you foolish poser.

This life is 

wild, defiled, revived.

Put your heads up and stand

if you manage to survive.

Drip

Tilted head

water in your eyes

drips down between her thighs. 

Keep your head down in her lap. 

The quiet ones laugh last

you were always the one to finish first.

Your mother said you needed Church. 

All you did was go

to disco aquariums 

and say hello to the sharks.

They filled your head with brutal art. 

It wasn't your fault

they weren't done

talking you into perversion

They poured water in your mouth

tipped you upside down. 

You became a bowl of salty thoughts. 

A color wheel

you think you thought

you heard waves. 

The water rises

the tide came in. 

You think you thought

you should have prayed. 

Lying in her shallow grave

all the water washes out and drains you

like the way bleach is supposed to. 

All you did was sail the sea. 

All you did was try to take a minute

to relax and breathe. 

I think you thought you knew

what you needed. 

There were rules you should have heeded. 

Signs you should have swallowed. 

Paths you should have followed. 

But you love the water more

than logic. 

Water is all you have if it's all you ever wanted. 

Lay back between her legs. 

Water is all you have

if it's all the ever stays.

Talk to your perversion

and drip.
