Old Friends, New Times // MS & YR
As he turned around to meet her gaze, Yuri then realized she was right. It has been quite a while since two two talked, despite the friendship they shared years ago, and somehow, seeing him again felt nice. Of course, there was a slight hope that they could rekindle the friendship they had before, but she realized it wouldn’t be easy. They sure had a lot of things to catch up on each other, but she wasn’t really sure if Myungsoo wanted the same thing.
“Yes, it’s me. Thanks, you still remember me. How are you, by the way?”, she said, as she placed her trashbag down on the ground. “Well, I’ve seen you around here somewhere, but I thought you forgot about me and I was scared you’d ignore me or something”, she continued, but when she realized she has been talking too much, she looked down feeling a bit awkward before looking up at him again and waited for his reply.
It was odd, seeing her again. Sure, he had seen her around the school before but it had always been from far away and never lasted any more than a few seconds. He had been tempted to start a conversation with her but had been overcome with the fear that she would not recognize him.
Now she stood in front of him, meeting his gaze, returning his smile and conversing with him. It had been nearly ten years since any of that had happened between the two of them and now they were no longer children. On the inside, he felt like his nine-year-old self again and wanted to hug her and run to the playground with her. He wanted to sit on the monkey bars and share secrets with her, just as they had when they were children. But he kept his composure and replied to Yuri's questions with an insuppressible grin.
"Really? I was afraid you wouldn't recognize me," he said, laughter bubbling in his throat. "I've been good, but I missed you." He flashed a smile at her and the conversation fell flat with an awkward silent. Coughing to slice through the silence, he dropped his gaze and rubbed at the back of his neck. "Uh, do you want to come over for tea and we can catch up a little?" He looked up at her. "I just moved in so my apartment isn't quite messy yet," he joked.
