HELLO EVERYBODY AND WELCOME BACK TO TUMBLR’S LEAST FAVORITE EVENT: WE’RE DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENT EDITION!
My goal for tonight is to help those new to the Vaporwave scene get a better grasp and starting place on what the genre is all about. So as you can see, Vaporwave can be broken up into a ton of sub-genres and the list above is by no means all-encompassing. Worry not though, being able to distinguish between the sub-genres is not nearly as daunting a task as it first seems!
One thing to take away from this list is that there is a lot of contention within the Vaporwave community as to what sub-genres are and are not Vaporwave. For our intents and purposes everything goes, but be warned that Future Funk, Synthwave, and Outrun are often considered the outsiders.
