❝monty had a secret. bryce knew what it was.❞
#a summary
Monty.... he really deserves better. 😭💔 * don’t @ me about it *
There is a good and bad side to everyone. Even your favorites. This season really shed some light on him and the explanation behind his violent homophobic behavior. I know that it does not excuse what he did to Tyler, but we need to re-analyze his complex character and how broken he really was. His abuse that he’s endured his whole life, along with his struggling self-hate caused him to snap when he blamed Tyler for ruining everything. Which was the cause of his *snap* (that’s what him and Tyler shared in common, they both snapped and planned/followed through with a plan that would cause harm. Monty assaulted Tyler and Tyler was going to murder several students-which whom many were innocent). People forget to compare their rage at the time of their breaks. I’m not justifying it, I’m making sense out of it. Yes, he should of never inflicted his own pain into someone else, but yet again we are all different. We all handle things differently. Monty was a product of his environment, clearly as he was beaten by his own father. Monty became the most complex character of the season by introducing his soft side explored with Winston. Which we all were waiting for. They brought out the content in his character by his developing relationship with Winston. The moment Monty re-approaches Winston after the homecoming game, we see a whole other side to him. Monty shows remorse, as he apologized to Winston for his altercation that happen last summer. The crack in his voice, and expression on his face he had telling Winston that he as sorry, and that he wasn’t going to do anything.. was it. The night he spent with Winston cleared the air more, by how happy Monty really seemed in the presence of Winston. He had a feeling he’s never had before, someone who was whiling to let him be whatever he wants to be. When Monty responded: “No. I can’t.” I cried. 😰 Right there you can see the pain, regret and sadness in his eyes that he wants to change, but he’s not sure exactly how to do it by himself. Which is why, he was different with Winston, because Winston let him be who he wanted to be. Monty wanted to change, and he was slowly doing so. Finally, the scene with his father really made me overall break for Monty. His father not only called him a fa**t, but adding insult to injury he spit disgracefully in his face... right there I understand how lonely, and empty Monty really was. 😰💔 He deserves a better father, and he deserves a chance at change. He is capable of it, as we all seen. His death is a hoax that’s use as a cover up. They added so much content and heart into his character for this to be it. He will return in Season 4, and so will Winston.
A brief insight on something I found and how abuse can affect a child and their behavior... Professor Webb said, “exposure to poverty can have an adverse impact on early child development as well as parental conflict and separation, harming children’s psychosocial development and well-being.” Continuing he added: “This study casts new light on our understanding of the deep-rooted causes of self-harm and violent behaviour. Though to some extent, we all make choices, what children go through does have a powerful effect on these harmful behaviours.” found at childinthecity.org (along with this, there are plenty of statistics of proven psychology facts that what a child endured growing up, plays a huge factor in their behavior.
* no hate, thanks. If you are suffering from abuse, or you are feeling lonely please reach out and ask for help. *
imma say it y’all...

here’s to the kids that use fictional characters as a way of coping. here’s to the kids that stay up late crying to their favourite characters. here’s to the kids that imagine their favourite character by their side when they’re experiencing bad anxiety in public. here’s to the kids that need works of fiction to keep on surviving.
+ shoutout to adults who cope in this way too. life doesn’t become easy just because you’ve grown up.

Speak it into existence.
A better situation
A healthier, more peaceful, positive situation.
randomly complimenting people is great. what did it cost u? nothing. and u probably made their day.
One time i was at Disneyland, and this lady walked into the bathroom scowling. It was obvious she was overweight, and I felt bad for that being the first thing I noticed about her.
So I took a moment to watch her to find something else to notice when I saw her hair. To this day, it was the most beautiful head of red curls I have ever seen. I mean seriously, even Natasha Romanov couldn’t compete!
I tapped her on the elbow, smiled and told her “your hair is absolutely gorgeous!”
I have never seen a scowl disappear as quickly as hers did. All my friends were shocked (in a good, pleased way) as we left and wouldn’t stop talking about it and tbh I wish it wasn’t so surprising that I would compliment a stranger.
So, if you’ve read this, here’s a little challenge. When you see someone and instantly notice something bad about them, take a moment to notice the good. And then maybe tell them the good.
This is such a good idea. because I promise you, if you notice something ‘bad’ about a stranger, they’ve noticed it their entire life. They’ve scowled at it and cried about it and wished with all their heart it didn’t exist. And they’ve probably heard about it from strangers and friends and family alike.
But if you notice something good, you might literally be the first person who has ever told them about it.
Be that hero for someone if you can. Heaven knows we all need it sometimes.
I took 3 damage reading this.

I survived an abusive relationship. At this point I have talked to and worked with hundreds of people in abusive relationships.
Guess what? telling us to leave never works.
ever.
I could write a post about ways to help people leave.
I’ll probably do that one day.
but don’t be that person in the mean time.
This is real quick off the cuff but:
AN ABBREVIATED GUIDE TO ‘holy shit my friend is in an abusive relationshit what do I do’
1. Don’t start shit with the abuser. Your friend? Will pay for it.
I once had a friend slap my abuser.
I am not going to tell you the price I paid b/c I’ve already puked once today and I would like to not do it again.
I once threatened a friend’s abuser.
I almost lost that friend over it.
Don’t do the thing.
2. Understand that the abuser is going to be isolating them.
They may be telling your friend how terrible you are. Any slight- no matter how small will be played up into a big thing. and even if the friend doesn’t hold it against you- it will probably effect how much they reach out to you.
Abusers like to tell their marks things like ‘Oh? A missed your call. Its because they hate you and think you complain too much’
The best way I can tell you to combat that- is just… don’t hold it against them. If they withdraw, don’t be that person like ‘well if you really cared about me you’d have fought for me’
The people who helped the most were those that I felt like.. I could go weeks without talking to and then they’d still listen if I got the courage to come back around.
If you can- work with them to try and schedule things so that they can have support without their abuser getting suspicious. School projects, open places. shit like that.
3. Don’t argue with them that shit is abusive.
Don’t be that person. It will make them feel unsafe with you.
The friends who argued were friends I lost. They were the ones it was easiest for him to make go. Cause here’s the thing… people view isolating as an abuser saying ‘you can’t talk to them!’ and a lot of times its not that.. its an abuser sitting down and saying in a real quiet voice ‘you two argue a lot, and they aren’t respecting you. But I’ll always be here for you okay?’
The most you can do is say “hey.. you know you deserve better than that right?” and if they argue go “I’m not going to argue with you. I don’t want to upset you.
4. If they ask for resources, help them get them.
Don’t offer them unless asked or it will turn into a fight and see above.
5. If they say they’re out of options- help them brain storm ones.
here’s an easy opening to ask if it’s okay to help them find resources.
don’t shove.
6. Be nice to them. consistently.
Too many people were too busy trying to convince me that he was a bad guy- that spending time with them just hurt…
and at least when I was with him it only hurt some of the time.
I got out because I had 4-5 good friends who I had good times with and I finally…. there was the light of ‘oh god this is what healthy relationships feel like. ‘
7. Don’t shove. Don’t pressure.
You can say “I’ll be here for you when you’re ready to leave”
You can remind them of this occasionally.
But don’t be a coercive dick.
Don’t be gross.
Don’t hurt people being abused.
That should not be that hard of a lesson.
Don’t say victim blaming shit to convince them to leave.,
Don’t threaten to leave them if they don’t leave.
Don’t be gross.
