"I long to be that complete"
Finished these 2 traditional watercolor paintings. : 3 SleepyTime Tea Bear on Liquitex Canvas Textured Paper, 300gsm and some weird Flower Pattern on Strathmore 500 Mixed Media, Vellum, 570 gsm (which is the highest I can find for a paper and the only paper I have that WON'T curl. It's also compatible to paint different things on the front and back of the same sheet. I had thrown a lot of shade at this paper because it pilled and degraded really badly when I first tried using it with acrylic paint. It seems fine for watercolor though and I'm still not sure what the issue was.) Watercolors used, as usual, were my Kuretake Gansai Tambi 36ct set. Gold Uni-Ball Gel Pen was used for the line for the pattern. All in all I think these were good practice for me though and I'm enjoying working with watercolor a lot more than I used to : 3

Tonight's before bed doodle is this Prang Pastello Paper Chalk piece on Canson Mi-Tientes Velvet Pastel Paper. I got a sheet of this in to try because I saw a lot of really good reviews. I had very high expectations it didn't meet. For whatever reason the only thing it really worked with that I had instead of my soft or oil pastels was the Prang. Maybe this paper is amazing for extra soft pastels or pan pastel. I don't own either of those. I'm happy I had a bit of self reservation and only ordered a sheet instead of a full pad though. Ah, also, the Prang was blended with a tortillon. It didn't blend at all with your fingers on this type of surface and that's the issue I ran into with all the other stuff I tried. I was just expecting it to blend easier and smoother than it actually did. Oh well.

“scientists don’t want you know” is a phrase that always cracks me up because if you actually meet a scientist they will be shaking and crying like an overstimulated chihuahua with the need to let you know
Today's before bed doodle is this watercolor piece that I have to leave unfinished. Done with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor on Blick Studio Fabriano Watercolor paper. I really like these paints, though they feel more like a gouache/watercolor hybrid than a typical watercolor and take some gettting used to. I really like this paper too, just not so much for watercolor tbh. It curls really easy still. Oh well. I bought different watercolor paper FOR watercolor, I just didn't use it for some reason. Anywho. Night y'all.
